[Mulder has more or less settled into an apartment with the things he's found so far from the shops... but that's not where he is at the moment. Too restless to hang around, and convinced he can figure something out, he's gone out on a trip to take a look at the barrier. He's even equipped himself with some camping gear he managed to find and ( Read more... )

goddamn barrier, shooting at things, scully, it's on!!!, should think before he acts, searching and seeking, nice trip to the forest, like he'd stay put long, i can learn magic!?, if it rains sleeping bags..., paranoia is my middle name, chasing the truth, communing with the spirits, samantha, missing people, missing scully, imsomnia abounds!

Nala is supposed to be the easiest to contact, for those who aren't naturally adept at magic.

Personally, I've always been better at contacting Kipinn. It depends a great deal on your own personality.

I'm hearing Nala come up a lot, so I might make her the first one I try and have a close encounter with. I'm hoping that my experience and knowledge will make up for what I lack in natural ability.

Nala does come up a lot. She's the spirit most willing to listen to anyone who will try and make contact, and the one who can be contacted from virtually anywhere. Some of the other spirits - Sona, Kinku, and Hyt - have their own preferences and can take weeks at a time to contact for the first time.

Some of them won't teach certain people at all.

Nala isn't quite so...restrictive. She's happy to teach anyone, and as far as I know snyone can at least master the basics of healing magic.

Sounds like I'd better make sure my attention span is in top form when I start trying this out.

I'm sure that healing magic would be very beneficial, from what I gather about life in this enclosure.

You had better, yes. It took me a little over a month before Sona stopped running away every time I tried to communicate.

And healing magic can be very helpful. It isn't a cure-all, by any means, unless you turn out to be very good at it. But if you need to stop someone bleeding out and you aren't certain they would make it to the clinic...well, it does have its uses.

Without my favorite medical doctor around, I'll need an alternative of some kind.

Persistence may as well be my middle name... I think I'll be up for the challenge. I've at least seen varying kinds of magic at work, and I know a lot of theory behind it... I've just never had that kind of power, myself.

I can personally recommend the doctors here with absolutely no reservations. [Been there, done that.]

I have no doubt that you will be. Everyone is, if they want to be. Persistence and the ability to listen exceptionally well really are key.

If you go beyond the three I've mentioned, let me know. I could use the assistance, and I've been particularly interested in learning what I can from Kinku.

The people running the clinic are fellow captives anyway, if I understand that correctly? [Which means they can be trusted more than the Malnosso at any rate.]

He's supposed to be one of the harder ones to contact, right? I'll be sure and let you know what I find out if I get there. I'm eager to learn from as many of them as I possibly can.

Fellow captives, yes. There are the magical healers, and then there are the ones you or I might think of as "medical doctors". But they're all reliable.

Learning from all of them was my goal, as well. Some people can. It's Hyt who's the hardest.

That's good though, if they're in the same boat as us, it does make them more trustworthy. I'd trust in both magical and medical healing, my experience with both has been pretty favorable overall. At least, being alive with all limbs attached points to as much.

With all of this time on my hands, I'm hoping to make good progress on the spirits... but I'm thinking Hyt will be the one to save for last, provided I get some of the other trickier ones.

You must lead quite the exciting life, then. And a fortunate one. I used to prefer medical healing over magic, but this place changed my mind in short order.

It would probably be best to save Hyt for last. I don't know if he can even be contacted within the village at all.

Exciting is a good way of putting it- I've had experiences which defy conventional explanations. At least that means I should adjust to this place well enough...

I get that impression about Hyt in general. At least it'll be something to work on if I'm going to be here a while.

If you've been here for more than a month, you'll know that Luceti has a very lax definition of a "conventional explanation". More often than not, "the Malnosso" is good enough.

I know how strange this might sound, maybe a little crazy... but I'm both dreading and interested in seeing one of these alleged 'experiments' that they throw at us.

I know the feeling. Especially when the New Feather cycle brings people in at the beginning of the month, when it's quiet to the point of dull.

...even when they're horrible, they experiments can never be called dull. The less horrible ones are even fascinating.

[Mulder really hasn't been around long enough to see the dullness. Or to get over having a place saturated in the supernatural, but that's probably the part he'll never get over.]

See, that was my thought. As much as I know it's probably not a good idea to wish some of the effects on anyone. I for one wouldn't mind gaining strange powers for a week or walking in someone else's shoes... to take some of what I've heard. I've heard they rarely repeat the same experiments, though?
