well it does look like a loss this fall if obama does not start hitting back & hard at that. "..And for god's sake, go negative" yep! it works every time. people say they don't like negative adds but they are what voters remember.
from now on bill clinton & james carville should run all responses to republicans. they know how to fight back, the only democrats that seem to know how.

If Republicans win again, it won't be TOO bad; they'll be gridlocked in congress, and "When Washington does nothing, we win!"

That said, nonetheless, I think at that point I will a)give up following politics and b)disavow myself of any responsibility for the political process. I might, in fact, stop voting. I'll be done, it'll be official; people are too stupid to act in their own best interest.

Man, I watched Carville tear some Republican mouthpiece woman an 11th orifice on TV about a week ago.

well it won't be good. if the dems fail again then i'm going to totally sell out and vote a straight repub ticket until death because that will mean the death of the democratic party. if they can't win 2 consecutive elections where the cards are all in their favor they should close up shop.

"Man, I watched Carville tear some Republican mouthpiece woman an 11th orifice on TV about a week ago." --he needs to shadow every public appearance of mc palin (i don't think they will be campaigning separate too often) and tear away...

At least he didn't apologize for th e"lipstick on a pig" comment. That was a big test, & everyone in the media knew if he caved and begged their pardon, he would have been officially de-balled. A Kerryism, if you will.

Sadly the problem he has is not the not going negative (though it is necessary ) It is his misguided belief that people vote intelligently.

They do not.

If they did we would not be stuck with the government we have, and there damn sure would not be a 2 party system.

People vote on emotion (most of them) and the republicans are using fear as the emotion of choice.

Fear of the unknown and fear of the other in this case.

Yeah, and what sucks? ...is we KNOW that, we've been watching that happen for a decade now. Why Gore & Kerry lost to Bush has been examined and studied by armies of sociologists & pollsters, and basic trends were identified that could be acted upon.

Like the "Better be strong & wrong, than weak & right" bit. We KNOW that. And Joe Biden? Ugh. Talk about watering down the ol' "change"message? Throw in extending tax cuts, continuing the war in Iraq, "going after terrorists" in Pakistan...and McCain talking about how he's for "change" (Mr. "Voted with Bush 90% of the time" is supposed to be for "change?") and I'm almost to the point where I couldn't care less which of them wins.

This campaign is more "Say whatever you have to, to win," than most of them, even...

I think the plan is the discourage the thinking voters to the point where they give up then they can get away with anything they want.

Sure it sounds paranoid but sadly the facts are fitting that pattern.

If i was Paranoid (who the hell said that I am ?) I would say it was a plan by large business to get a fully subsidized government that will toe their line with no deviations.
