How can the weekend be over already? *sigh* Ah well, maybe the end of the weekend will also bring an end to my quasi-lurkdom on LJ (meaning that I do save stuff but don't get to read anything because I either have a RL or I waste time watching videos/films or browsing for stuff on Wikipedia ( Read more... )

I've seen Ghoyas Ghost. It's good. But without spoiling - it's not by an stretch an uplifting movie...

Ah yes, I figured that it wouldn't be very uplifting. But if you say it's good, I'll give it a try as soon as I've watched the others on the list. Thanks! :)

Sweetie, anytime I give you a film rec, you can TOTALLY TRUST ME, OK? LMAO. I hardly said anything about this one because I didn't want to spoint ANYTHING about it!!! *squees* I had this feeling that you would like Unax Ugalde and find him as sexy as I did! LOLLLLL. *sigh* Basque men!!! They are just toooo devastating! :P

Okay, yes! I have the DVD of Alatriste and have seen most of it but haven't finished it yet. I LOVED it so far!!! Some niiiiiice eye candy!!!

Love in the Time of Cholera is totally awesome. I want to watch it again. I saw it a long time ago...I have the DVD somewhere. :P

And yes...LOL. I also have the DVD of Goya's Ghosts too. It's better than alright, although not the best film I've ever seen. But I found it very interesting and very different.

If I got all my Spanish films together I could probably rec a few more to you. Have you watched El Lobo yet, about the 1970s Basque cop who is sent undercover to spy on the ETA? I think I recced it enthusiastically months ago! AWESOME movie! TOTALLY ( ... )

And that would be "spoil", not "spoint". Too bad there isn't such a word, though. It's rather good, don't you think?

"Spoint". :)

I like the word "spoint"! It should totally be a word. :D (And LOL, I wouldn't even have noticed the typo if you hadn't mentioned it, my brain is still squeeing. XDD)

OMG, I know! I wish I wasn't born to procrastinate. XD But dude, it must have been difficult not to say a word about anything in the film!! O___O I had no choice but to tell the world about the gorgeousness that is Unax Ugalde right when the film ended! And you're completely right about Basque men - too fucking amazing. :)

I've ordered Alatriste, Queens and El Lobo (finally, it's been ages since you recced that film to me! *feels very bad*), can't wait to watch them all! :D And then I'm going to get myself the others. Thanks for letting me know what you thought of them! :)

Alatriste is good. Viggo speaking Spanish is more than good. And if you're familiar with Dutch art, paintings, it's gonna be a real fun for you to recognize some paintings as scenes out there.

Oooh, Viggo is speaking Spanish in that film? Sounds awesome! :D I don't really know much about art, especially Dutch art, I'm afraid, but I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie nevertheless. :)

Rembrandt's paintings for instance. You will recognize them for sure :)

LOL, don't think too highly of my brain, I'm really quite a philistine. I wouldn't recognise a Van Gogh if it punched me in the face, and I doubt I'd recognise a Rembrandt. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate great art, of course. I'll probably like the pictures without even realising who made them. :)

Unax Ugalde with a name like that he just had to be from Basque country didn't he, awesome !!

He is reminding me of someone but I can't think who right now :(

I've just Wiki-ed him, we share the same birthday with him being one year older than me, oh and he's got Gutiérrez in his name, all is good !!

LOL, exactly! XDD
When I was watching the film, I had no idea who he was, but from the way he talked and moved and looked and everything, I figured he had to be from Spain. And then, when the credits came, I found his name and nearly died laughing, because it's really just my luck that an actor I find incredibly hot is Basque. (Or at least I was pretty certain he was Basque, considering his name.) And then, I checked his IMDB site and found that he's from Vitoria. XD Ah, Basque guys... ;)

He does remind me of someone, too, but I really can't think who either! *pokes brain* I thought it was a footballer at first, but now I'm not even sure of that. Let me know if you come up with something!

(And yeah, I had a little snicker at the "Gutiérrez" as well. XD The awesomeness doesn't seem to end, does it? XD)

I just ordered Reinas today, hehe. XD I mean, a gay film with Unax? Can there be a better reason for me to buy a film? XD And considering the reviews it got on Amazon, it seems like it's a good film too, so I'm all the more excited about it! :D Thanks for letting me know what you can remember of the film! I'll definitely return here once I've watched it and then we can discuss a little, if you like. :)

My mum wanted to watch that film but then forgot, but from what I read about it on Wikipedia, I'm sure she'd have liked it. I'm not really into that type of story usually, but once I discovered that Javier Bardem is in the film, I really have to see it. XD (Have you seen Vicky Cristina Barcelona? Another brilliant film of his. :D)

Ooh, do let me know what you think of it! I feel like watching it again right now.

I haven't seen Vicky Cristina Barcelona, no. My mother really liked it, though. C:

I definitely will! :D

Oh, you have to see that one! Javier Bardem is brilliant, and I also loved the female leads, especially Penélope Cruz. That woman is a goddess. :D And there was so much chemistry between the main characters, wow. :)
