If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done.

I'm SUPPOSED to be working on the troll plush. There's a very excited lady waiting patiently over in Germany for her huggable lovable troll pall but I've hit a little wall I think because I keep staring blankly at him and his poor detachable head (I often wake up to find some comedic wannabe in my house has shifted his head to a "hilarious" ( Read more... )

I wash all my fabric because I have two things that don't fit properly now because they shrunk when washed. And one of them was made from fabric scraps, so even if it's going to be used for something that won't be washed (which is admittedly nothing, but say it was) then I wash it first because otherwise I'll have to wash all the scraps and offcuts anyway in case I use them later (and washing small pieces is annoying because you have to hang them out individually). Even if it's a tiny piece, I might use it for a pocket or something, and then it might shrink a bit and look ugly ( ... )

Further thought - front loading washing machines, which I have one of, are said to be gentler on clothing, so they might produce less of the excessive fraying than a top loader. I've only had excessive fraying with a few pieces, and it's not too serious if the fabric is large. If it is small pieces or you're really short on the fabric, or it's really expensive, I'd wash it in the sink. :D

Yeah I'm all about the hand-washing from now on. We have a top loader machine anyway, plus all the material I buy is at MOST half a metre so I think hand-washing is the way to go for sure!

Although I do kind of like playing with the pile of frayed bits I have to cut off. They're so soft and rainbow coloured!

I think you'd be disturbed if you saw all the half finished (ok not even half) spread out (ok sprawled) on the floor...

I've been very good lately with limiting the amount of projects I have on the go. But right now I have a serious case of crafting ADD!

I think I'm going to start handwashing my fabric but I will admit I really do like how the sizing makes it easier on cutting and piecing.. Sigh. I wish there was a middle ground!

I'm usually very mild mannered but boy I do some creative cussing when my machine starts vomitting up thread! It's the pits.

Another procrastinator confesses - I love it! I have been on the computer for most of the morning, checking out blogs and doing a new post instead of doing the laundry, washing the kitchen floor, playing with my dogs, patting my new fabric - making a batch of those yummy biscuits you brought along to the great Ballarat Blog Meet - you know how it is... Nice to meet you, Holly, thanks for the biscuits and for sharing the recipe. And your stamp tute is great - even I could do it (one day, maybe, when I stop procrastinating...)
