If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done.

I'm SUPPOSED to be working on the troll plush. There's a very excited lady waiting patiently over in Germany for her huggable lovable troll pall but I've hit a little wall I think because I keep staring blankly at him and his poor detachable head (I often wake up to find some comedic wannabe in my house has shifted his head to a "hilarious" location).

It's always the case - I'm always my most productive when I have something to do, but you can bet the things I suddenly NEED to get done have nothing to do with the thing I actually need to get done.

Oh... I have that 10'000 word essay due... Well I can't possibly work in this pig sty, I'll just give my desk a bit of a tidy. Oh look, here's that letter from my cousin! Well it would be rude to let that go unanswered, let me just write something quickly. Oh hey, there's that embroidery book I forgot I had! Man this is a good book. Yeah, just a quick flip through should do it...

So I'm sitting there yesterday and all this fabric, all this lovely fabric, is taunting me. I haven't played with fabric in ages! (it seems)

Just a quick play. Go on... You know you want to...

So I played around with my new quilt top score and then I thought well... I better wash it so it doesn't bleed when I was the final quilt (look at me bravely thinking ahead!) or shrink at weird rates.

I will confess something to you now. A little bit of a blogfessional.

I don't pre-wash many of my fabrics.

I know, I know! But I used to do it and I'd lose a couple of inches each side to fraying! Not to mention the wrestling match I'd have to take part in just to separate the bits of fabric from each other. So now I only wash if it's going to be something that might need to be washed in the future. There. I said it.

Hoppo Bumpo actually led a fantastic blogfessional about this very issue a few days ago - it was very enlightening (I picked up some tips like NOT using the washing machine.. heh.. who knew agitation would create fraying?) and just how many people are in the not-wash or infrequently-wash or wash-when-I-can-bloody-well-be-bothered camp.

But I digress.

I washed and dried

and ironed

But it still wasn't enough.

So I made these and they helped a little to soothe the savage beast inside. I have an idea what I'll use them for but I'll be good and not spill the beans just yet.

Back to the troll now eh?

fabric, plushies
