I'm really sorry to hear of this, I think it's a pretty common and completely devastating scenario that plays itself out between partners all the time. It's not ok! It's not that difficult to remember. The onus is not on you. You should always feel safe in your own bed, in sleep, at rest. It is possible to have a great sex life after rape/trauma/abuse, but it takes a lot of insight from the partner and a lot of respect and care. Take care of yourself.

Yes, mistakes are common, even bad ones. My partner is human and I am capable of forgiveness because he took responsibility. The way he handled this saved our relationship. He reassured me that I was with a good man who expected to treat me like a beloved human being and expected me to be mad when he failed at that. I wish with all my heart, for the sake of others, that he is NOT exceptional or extraordinary.

But it is enough that he is exceptional and extraordinary to me. :)
