Ze Novel...
.....iz finished. I finished it yesterday actually. I didn't do the anticipated power slide because I'm not actually finished with it. It's just the very basic first draft. This was a terrific experience; writing so much in so short a time really helps you appreciate the different stages of writing and the way ideas and characters evolve. The ( Read more... ) -
NaNoWriMo Day 11
There are 19 days left of November. I've already decided how I'm going to end the month: I will upload the NaNo novel to the site for a final count, I will (gently) fling my laptop to the side, and I will do a power slide across the floor.
In other news...who am I kidding? This is pretty much all I'm doing these days. -

Sis-in-law went in to labor, "officially", two hours ago. So, so exciting. Hopefully, we'll be able to meet this newest, tiniest family member this afternoon.

A Series of Fortunate Events
Work is going well. Very well - the class is humming along, with the occasional squables but nothing that's too difficult to deal with. I went to an amazing conference this summer (with the two other gals who teach 3rd grade) about teaching writing in a workshop format. So, I was not aware of this until someone on my Facebook posted a link to the ridiculous protest video for it. Aparently President Obama is giving an address to students nationwide on September 8th. Conservative parents are flipping their biscuits because this is clearly an attempt at brainwashing children with progressive values, or causing them ( Read more... ) -
