Now I'm all nervous about my pre-school hand waving!

Hope you enjoy.

That scene with the kids decorating Bob's braces was one of the first ones I thought of way back when. I just love the idea of them telling him he's brave in their own way.

I'm so glad you liked. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment ♥

Oh my HEART. Bob just killed me here, so fucking determined to be miserable and alone and fighting like hell not to admit his own feelings. [grins] And Mikey was awesome, just so awesome--smart and confident and MIKEY, not letting Bob's shit bother him as best he could because he knew his own heart and that whatever was going to fuck them up wasn't coming from him. AND GERARD PUNCHED SOMEONE! \o/ Seriously, I whooped at that bit. Frank being alternately dangerous and stricken, lol. And Ray being all best-friendy and awesome and this was great, honey, this whole thing was. This was really just lovely. [hugs]

Bob was so determined to be miserable. We had words during the writing of this, ones where I'd glare and say 'You're a pre-school teacher, be happy!' and he'd glare back and have commitment issues to the extreme.

I'm so happy you liked Mikey! At first this was Bob's POV only and I had to add Mikey in and it took some wrangling to actually say what I wanted. So you thinking that is awesome.

And yes, Gerard punched Bob in the face! And felt terrible for doing so *g*

Thank you for such a lovely comment ♥

I really really enjoyed this. From Bob struggling to keep everyone at arms length, and not get hurt (again) to Mikey feeling okay being someone "for now" and not "forever" but still hoping for the "forever" bit (aww... Mikey ( ... )

I'm really glad that you liked this.

Initially this was going to be something very light-hearted and fluffy, but it didn't turn out that way at all.

It's a fair point about Mikey. I started this from Bob's POV only, which is why he tended to be more front and centre with his issues. You're right though, Mikey did get burned and as a result has his own problems, though he doesn't deal in the same way as Bob.

The scenes with Bob and his kids are what I built this story on, so I'm happy that they worked for you.

Thank you for such a lovely comment, and for the nit pick, I'd say Ray was supposed to babble but we all know it's just me messing up my editing :)

BOB! feeling all alone and determined to stay so, but then along comes Mikey and life suddenly becomes less bleak and more technicolour. Bob as a preschool teacher is full of ahhh moments - loved that their first not-a-date involved making mask

I really like Bob/Mikey. It's a shame it's not more widely written.

Mask making is a good bonding activity, especially when it involves googly eyes *g*

Thank you for reading and the comment.
