“It’s snowing!” I exclaimed as Alex parked the car. He snorted, raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah? I didn’t notice,” he teased, running a hand through his hair.

“I wanna play in it,” I said and he smiled.

“You’ll freeze,” he told me, turning the car off. “You aren’t dressed to play in the snow.”

“I know,” I said, pouting and looking down at my hoodie.

Alex grinned, leaning over and kissing my pout.

“Come on. Let’s go inside and find Travis before he starts,” he said and I ran a hand over his smooth-shaven cheek.

“Maybe I just wanna sit in the car and kiss you,” I said, kissing him again and laying my hand in his lap.

“I already gave you sex today! What do you think I am? Battery-powered?” he said and I giggled.

“You don’t fool me, Alex Gaskarth. I know you can go all night,” I teased, moving my lips down and kissing his neck.

“N-no, don’t start doing that. We’ll never leave here,” he said, ducking away from me and sliding out his door.

He locked the door behind me, grabbing my hand as we walked to the front.

It was a small little place. I didn’t even know if I would classify it as a club. More of a little bar. It wasn’t super busy, but there was a good amount of people sat around. I looked around the room, seeing Travis’ mess of orange hair where he was seated at the bar.

“He’s over there,” I said, squeezing Alex’s hand and pointing in his direction.

“At the bar. Go figure,” Alex said and I chuckled.

“That’s where you’d be found too, babe,” I teased and he raised an eyebrow.

“And you wouldn’t?” he questioned, making me roll my eyes.

“Shut up,” I answered and he smirked.

“Hey, Travis,” Alex said as we walked up to him. He turned around, giving us a bright smile.

“Hey!” he exclaimed. “I’m so glad you guys made it!”

“Yeah, we wouldn’t want you to have to go up there with no support,” I said, feeling Alex’s hand slide down my back and squeeze my butt as he guided me to a chair.

“Frisky?” Travis asked, giggling as he raised an eyebrow at Alex.

“No, he’s just a pervert,” I said and he looked at me with mock-hurt.

“Am not,” he objected. “He seduces me.”

“Okay!” I laughed, rolling my eyes. “Just ‘cause you can’t keep your hands to yourself doesn’t make it seduction. Nympho.”

“Says the boy who tried to have phone sex with me at work earlier,” he said and I raised an eyebrow.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” I said and he snorted.

“Of course not. You probably don’t remember coming home and climbing into the shower with me-”

“I don’t think Travis wants to hear this story, babe,” I said, hearing Travis giggle.

“I’d probably just hear about it at school anyway,” he said and I raised an eyebrow at Alex.

“Oh, so that’s what your scholarship is paying for, so you can go tell your friends about our sex life?” I asked and Alex smiled, sweetly.

“I love you, baby,” he said, grabbing my hand.

“Just be glad you have a sex life,” Travis said, laughing. “We aren’t all lucky.”

“Yeah, lucky,” I said, giving Alex a look and he grinned, laying his head on my shoulder and running his thumb over my knuckles.

“So when are you going on?” Alex asked Travis. “So maybe you’ll stop getting me in trouble.”

“Whenever this liquid courage starts kicking in,” he said and I laughed.

“Keep your voice down,” I heard someone say, looking up to see a boy about my age standing behind the counter. “You have to take me in if you get me fired.”

“Why would you get fired, Vinny?” Another male asked, brushing past him and serving someone a basket of fries with a smile. He turned towards the first kid, Vinny, raising an eyebrow.

“I have no idea! I was just wondering that myself!” he said, smiling cheekily at the other.

“Get to work, Petrocelli,” he said.

“Aye, aye, Cap’n!” Vinny said, saluting the other male and making him roll his green eyes. He walked away, turning to Alex and I. “Hi, can I get you guys something to drink?”

“Yeah,” I said, glancing over at Alex.

“I’ll just have a Coke,” he said and I nodded.

“I’ll have one too,” I said.

“Bring them some wings,” Travis said. “Put it on my tab.”

“You don’t have to do that!” Alex insisted and Travis shrugged.

“It’s fine. Take it as a thank you for coming out to see me,” he said. “Plus Jack’s looking a little skinnier. Don’t you feed him?”

Alex chuckled, wrapping his arms around me.

“No, that’s just Jack,” he said. “He just lost all his baby weight.”

“It’s true,” I said, shrugging.

“You ready to get out there yet?” the older boy from earlier asked Travis.

“Yeah,” he said. “By the way, guys, this is Matt. Matt, this is Jack, and Alex. They’re good friends of mine.”

Matt smiled at us and I noticed he had a hoop through his lip just like Travis.

“Cool. I’ll make sure to take good care of them,” he said. “Your guitar and everything is ready to go whenever you are.”

“Alright,” Travis said, turning to us. “I’ll see you in a little bit. Enjoy the show.”

“Break a leg,” Alex told him and I watched him walk away to the small platform that was set up like a stage. He sat down on a stool, picking up an acoustic guitar and strumming it experimentally. He cleared his throat, leaning closer to the microphone. “Hey, guys. My name’s Travis and I’m gonna play you a few songs. This one is called ‘Secret Valentine’.

“Soft kiss and wine, what a pretty friend of mine. We’re finally intertwined,” he sang and I smiled as I felt Alex’s arms holding me tightly from behind. “Nervous and shy for the moment we will come alive tonight. Secret Valentine.

“We’ll write a song that turns out the lights when both boy and girl start suddenly shaking inside. Don’t waste your time. Speed up your breathing. Just close your eyes. We’ll hope it’s not for nothing at all.”

“He’s really good,” I told Alex and he nodded. I rested back in his arms, smiling happily.

“Lay down, be still. Don’t worry, talk they will. I’ll be loving you until morning’s first light breaks tomorrow. I’ll take care of you tonight. Secret Valentine.”

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I started to break away from Alex.

“My phone’s ringing. I’ll be right back,” I said, standing up and walking towards the exit. I saw it was May, flipping my phone open. “Hey.”

“Hey, Jack,” she said.

“What’s going on?” I asked. “Is Josie okay?”

“She’s sleeping now. I gave her some Motrin because she was running a little bit of a fever,” she said and I frowned.

“She is? Do you want me to come home? I can get Alex right now,” I said, hearing her chuckle. “We can be home in like ten minutes.”

“No, Jack. Mom called the doctor and she said to just give her some Motrin. There’s not much you can do since she’s sleeping now,” she answered.

“Okay,” I said, sighing. “I just feel like I should be there.”

“You can come home if you really think you need to, but all you’re gonna do is sit here and watch her sleep. She was exhausted and she’s knocked out,” she told me. “Just have fun. I was calling to let you know that we gave her some Motrin.”

“Alright,” I answered, biting my lip.

“So how’s Travis doing?” she asked.

“He’s doing really well. I didn’t realize he had such a nice voice,” I told her.

“I said the same thing about your boyfriend earlier,” she said and I smiled. “He was singing to Josie.”

“I know,” I answered. “He’s amazing.”

“I’ll let you go though,” she said softly. “Don’t worry all night either. Enjoy yourself. I have everything under control.”

“Okay,” I said. “Just don’t hesitate to call me if anything happens. Alex and I will be on our way in a heartbeat.”

“I know, Jack,” she said, smile showing through her voice. “You guys love your baby girl.”

“Seriously, though. Call me,” I said.

“Yes, Jack. Now go have fun,” she told me. “I’ll see you later. Bye.”

“Bye,” I said, hearing her hang up.

I put my phone back in my pocket, walking inside. Alex was still seated at the bar, basket of chicken wings sitting in front of him. He was talking to Vinny, laughing at something the other had said.

I sat down next to him, seeing him look over at my curiously.

“Hey, everything alright?” he asked and I nodded.

“May just called to tell me she gave Josie some Motrin because she had a small fever,” I told him and concern crossed his face.

“Do we need to go home? Is she alright?” he asked as I grabbed a wing.

“May said Josie’s sleeping and she’s got everything under control. She said to just have a good time,” I told him and he watched me.

“Do you to go home?” he questioned and I bit my lip.

“I think we should stay and finish our wings and watch Travis for a little bit longer. I trust May. Plus my mom’s home with her,” I said and he nodded.

“We can go as soon as you’re ready,” he told me. “Just say the word.”

“Do you wanna go home?” I asked, seeing the look in his eyes.

“Yeah, I mean I wanna stay and support Travis, but I also wanna be home taking care of my baby girl,” he said and I smiled.

“We’ll finish these and let him know,” I said. “You know Travis will understand.”

“Okay,” he said, smiling.

I turned around, looking at Travis as he sang.

“Last night’s dream we drove your car to the dead end of your street and we made love where no one else could see. Last night’s dream I held your hand and asked if you would be forever mine, together you and me.”

I felt Alex’s knee press against mine and I looked over to see him smiling at me lovingly.

“And we both know, you’re everything I need. And now I know she she does to me.

“She takes me high. She takes me high. She takes me high. She takes me high. She wakes me up. She breaks me down. She’s got me ten feet off the ground. She takes me high tonight.

“I’ll keep sleeping if I don’t stop dreaming. I would stop my breathing for you. I’m not leaving this life I’m dreaming ‘cause I can’t stop living with you.”

Alex leaned over, giving me a sloppy barbecue flavored kiss. I giggled, smiling and rolling my eyes.

Travis took a break to come get a drink after another song, smiling as he walked up to us.

“Hey,” he said. “So, what do you guys think?”

“You sound fucking awesome!” I said, grinning.

“Yeah, it’s great, dude,” Alex told him.

“Good. It’s kinda scary,” Travis said, giggling.

“I bet,” I said, watching him take a long drink of water.

“Hey, Trav,” Alex said. “We’re gonna have to head out now, though. May called and told us Josie’s sick.”

“Aw, she is?” he asked, frowning. “Poor baby.”

“Yeah, we’re gonna head home now and make sure she’s okay,” I said and he nodded.

“Of course! Go take care of the munchkin,” he said. “I hope she feels better.”

“Me too,” Alex said. “I’ll call you tomorrow. Good luck on the rest of the night. You sound fucking amazing!”

“Thanks, dude. Later, Jack,” he said, waving as he walked back to the stage.

I took a five dollar bill out of my pocket, laying it on the counter for Vinny.

“Come on. Let’s go see our sick little princess,” I said, wiping my hands off and pulling Alex out of his chair.
