[Narrowed golden eyes stare into the camera. Tsunade’s lips are formed into a thin line, and the mark on her forehead is distorted slightly from the furrow in her brow.]

Kai.  [The frustration in her voice makes it obvious that this isn’t the first time she’s attempted the dispel. When nothing happens, anger flares in her eyes.]

Oh, great. You're back.

[She stares after him for a moment, wide-eyed. The familiar grin fails to come, nor does the expected explosion of temper appear. Instead, she seems stunned.]

You're really alive.

[Well, that was unexpected. He comes closer, though still just out reach of her fists in case she starts swinging.]

Yeah, I am. Is it really that big of a surprise? We've seen stranger things, after all.

[Her lips tighten into a thin line. She takes one step closer, then another, holding his gaze. When she's directly in front of him, she looks up past the foot of height difference between them. That vulnerability flickers in her eyes again.

Then a chakra-enforced fist catches him soundly in the ribs.]

That's for dying, you idiot.

[While he knew some sort of retribution was coming, he still wasn't prepared for the fist his ribs, which knocked him off his feet.]

OW! Goddamn, woman, it's not like I had any intention of dying!

[She's gracious enough to let him get back up on his feet before she knocks him off them again with another punch. She's not holding back in force, but at least she's attacking non-vital areas?]

Yes you did. You knew it was dangerous but you went anyway. I told you to call me for help but you would not. Instead of trying to save yourself you put your last moment into getting that message to us. You did.

Oof! I did not! And since it was my student causing all the disasters, I had to take care of him! Would you have preferred it if I just let it be and have him kill more people?! [he gets to his feet again, making faces.] I did what I had to, regardless of the fact that I died in the process!

[She just stares at him for a long time, fists trembling.]

You weren't supposed to die. Even if he was your student, you weren't supposed to die. Not you too.

I'm not dead yet. Though that might change if you keep hitting me.

[he sighs.] I honestly had no intention of dying. And if it makes you feel any better, I don't intend to die here.

I'll hit you as much as I want. [Despite saying that, she doesn't move to hit him again, instead just staring.]

You better not. Not again. If you die here, when you come back, I'll kill you again for dying on me. Don't think I won't. [As harsh as the words sound, tears are tracking down her cheeks, and she's shaking.]

[Offline] He's really sorry! XD He didn't MEAN to die!

I'll make doubly sure not to die then. Since dying twice in a row would just be a pain. [He hugs her again, this time just holding her.]

Now look, don't cry. I'm here, I'm alive, I'm not going anywhere if I can help it.

You'd better. [The words are muffled against his shirt, and her hands fist in his vest. Tears stain the fabric as she just holds onto him, solid and steady and there, and the sound of his heart beating and the rhythm of his breathing is more proof than any number of reminders that only he would know.]

You're not dying again. Not again.

*gives lots of flowers and chocolate and sake* <3?

Or else you'll kill me again. Got it. [he just lets her cry on him, he figures he owes her that much, at least.]

Good. Don't forget it. [It's mumbled against his shirt, the tough act there even as tears still run down her cheeks. There wasn't enough time to grieve in Konoha, pain kept carefully private in the face of duty.]

And while you're making promises, no peeping in bathhouses, either. [She draws back, looking up at him with reddened eyes, and her normally fierce expression is thin around the edges.]

I won't. [he pats her on the back gently.]

Well, that's no fun. But there aren't any here, so I can keep that promise, at least. [he tactfully doesn't mention how red her eyes are, for once. Two hits to the ribs are enough, he doesn't need more.] Feel better now?

Somewhat. [She rubs the back of her hand over her eyes, clearing the last of the tears away, then pushes Jiraiya's shirt up.]
