More Ranting.

Because I am finally, for the first time this past week, not off my ass exhausted, I am back to being the bitch I am about reality and life in general.

About Katrina. Of course, because I have policies to bitch about concerning the American government. )

what's fucked up is everything's alright, politics, equality

Goddamn, I didn't go see it, but Jenn said it was good and I'd have liked it... although, from the way it sounds, I wouldn't have been laughing nearly that much at all, holy shit. O_o

Very good point. I pull open doors for anyone if I'm in the mood to be considerate. What gets me is when I sometimes get ?? reactions if I do it for a guy or some other thing. And then some people might go: you're not suppose to do that, you're a girl. (wtf mate)

Oh. For the National Guard. I saw an article about how some were heckling stranded girls to "lift up their shirts" if they wanted to get rescued. Dunno if it's valid, but... I wouldn't be surprised... >_>

And the girl rapes guy thing? I had that as a basis for my original story idea before... and the guy gets a bit fucked in the head like a normally raped person does and conspires to blow up his school (I was inspired by the Columbine shootings) with this other guy (was slash ^^). Never really got that off the ground though. ^^; Haha.

...I haven't read that article before. ^^;; Am hoping it's not valid, although I wouldn't be surprised either if it were... ~_~

I can understand the rape stories. People need to know about it. But there's a condition that's left after the rape that's not at all funny- it messes people up. Your idea seems a heck of a lot more logical than the movie. ^^;;

::nod:: XD Ha! It may be, but it'd never get published in mainstream release! ::CACKLE:: God knows, it might give people... ideas. ;P

Stories where the guy (or girl) falls in love with his rapist-- who doesn't change and just fucks him-- is a turnoff for me. I usually can't stand fanfics with that theme. The only possible exceptions are very well written fanfics who set that up to strike home how incredibly fucked up the relationship is. Then again, this shows how twisted I am, considering my NC/rape kink. ^^;;; It is that power play/domination, angst, and level of fucked-up-ness that hooks me. XD

wow, he's being repeatedly raped by a girl?? how come i didn't hear of that?? the plotline of movie didn't interest me at all, so i really don't have the need or urge to watch it. that's horrible. rape is not nice AT ALL. no matter the gender.

errgg. i hate talking about politics. and then with katrina, there's so much crap associated with it, its disappointing. i try not to think about it.

I don't think I've hit deeper than the skin on the subject of Katrina, LOL. But a thousand other people on LJ have delved into the subject, so I'm mostly giving my $.02 and moving on ( ... )

i didn't see the movie, but dang, that's horrible!!

at the same time, when i've read all those dub-con/rape fics in the hp fandom, its kinda like the same thing -.-;;;

so i don't know. maybe written literature in that aspect only is within our mind and its not like we really see it. however, in movies, real people are actually acting that kind of scenario out. so, i dunno. now since you've said that, i really don't want to watch the movie tho. however, if you rec an awesome hp fic, with dub-con, i'll most likely read it ^^;;;

i guess that's how it works.

For certain reasons, I don't quite condone the fanfiction. If it's well done, it's certainly believable. Those stories usually include a great amount of angst, and heavy, heavy themes before the 'omg, fall in love!' scenes.

I've written NCS fics before. But it's heavy angst, it's psychological torment and includes quite dubious endings. If there's a well written NCS or dub-con fic, I'd read it too.

I just don't think there's anything funny about it. If it's well done, it just doesn't turn out funny. Not because of the authors, but because it's a serious topic to be writing about.

Maybe I seem a little hypocritical to be saying that. But I certainly hope not.

the thing I was told, in the army, about why guys can't be raped is cause at some point, they will always start to enjoy it.

we were also told that if a woman says no, then it's not consentual. even if she's married to the the other person. She can still file for rape (at least in the army)... (even I think that's messed up, if your married to someone, you better be willing to sleep with them, whenever they want...)

Anyways, yeah, I'm going tomorrow to volunteer at the Astrodome... wish me luck, cause I know I'm going to be terrified!!! But hopefully the experience will help me get a job.

There's also a law (or maybe it was just for California) that basically said that at any point during sex, even if it's after it's own initiation, one party says, 'no', then the other party has to stop or it's rape.

I just don't think it's something to be made into comedy- what if at some point, women start to enjoy the feelings of being raped as well? Rare, but it's not impossible. Mostly, that would induce even more guilt, but that doesn't mean it's not rape because she enjoyed it. As long as the other party says 'No', then it's rape.

I just feel really sorry for the guys, you know? If they're getting off, there's some way that they're going to enjoy it physically, even if they don't want to. Just because they're enjoying it physically doesn't mean it's not rape. The act is still an act of power over the other party, after all.

And good luck! *waves* I'm sure it'll be a great experience! *sends lots of hugs and kisses*

you bring up an interesting point. probably If a saw someone being raped I would kill the rapist, be it male or female. even the word Rape sets me on edge. I would never wish such a predicament even on the worst of my enemies.

for those of Katrina I would love to aid in any way, I may be untrained but I still know a decent amount about medicine; and it would be great training if I wish to go into triage in the future, to aid those that are in serious condition.

I wish I could help more with Hurricane Katrina, I really do. I don't have the time to donate and it's not like refugees are being brought up to Canada, though.

I thought it was really ironic last week when school started and people were just handing out bottles of water to the students as we got off the buses, just like they hand out newspapers to people. We have the water and supplies to share- heck, it's all free to us. But then I read an article about how Canada had troops and supplies to send to help the victims of Katrina, but Bush had refused the help. So hence, we have a lot of extra supplies that even the private relief organizations would have been burdoned down with and we were just giving it away free to the people walking around.

And the rape thing... I just don't think it's fair. That's certainly not equality, and I'm ashamed that our society would even think to produce movies like that. And have the world laugh. It's not a funny topic of conversation.

about katrina -- i was wondering...isn't the term 'homeland security' supposed to extend to protecting the citizens from natural disastors as well as from terrorist attacks? you would think it would, considering that katrina did more damage in a few hours than the terrorist's did to us during that attack on the twin towers. i suppose its further proof that our president is more of a war monger than he is anything else. i saw a book in my stor last night critizing George W., and the title itself inspires a kind of grim humor. it was called 'warrior king', and there was a picture of bush's face half in shadow, half in light, on the cover. i don't know if that book was good or not, but the cover itself sported a powerful message.

as for wedding crashers, i haven't seen it yet, and i don't know if i'm going to. i have heard that it's hilariously funny, but watching a movie about womanizer's isn't exactly my thing. maybe some people in the audience laughed because they thought of it was poetic justice -- womanizer gets raped. funny, ( ... )

Well, for the most part, FEMA has been sucked into the huge portion of 'Homeland Security', which is for the most part, a security against illegal aliens and outside terriorists. Of course, you know, all these natural disasters and the events of the past several years (Excluding 9/11, what do we have for acts of terrorism? The Louisiana bombing... which is an act terrorism from the home country. Earthquakes, hurricanes, etc... there are SO MANY acts of terrorism that come from the homeland that it makes you wonder how the government has been blinded to that due to one act of terrorism from the middle east. Or maybe it's just because it's okay to have terrorism from an American threatening Americans, but it's not okay to be threatened by a few puny second-world countries in the middle east?

Honestly, Bush. Get your priorities in order.

And I've heard about 40 Days and 40 Nights as well, and that's also on my list of movies never to watch. I think the idea that men can't get raped by women and suffer all the psychological damage is ( ... )

...as for the rest of it, i agree agree agree, and GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH i share your frustration. i don't have much more to say on it, as you, my darling, have said it all so succinctinly that nothing short of an opposing arguement should follow.

be a journalist? <3 if i could see articles like what you've just written in the newspaper, i'd actually read it. do the opinions column, if you must.
