More Ranting.

Because I am finally, for the first time this past week, not off my ass exhausted, I am back to being the bitch I am about reality and life in general.

About Katrina. Of course, because I have policies to bitch about concerning the American government. )

what's fucked up is everything's alright, politics, equality

I don't think I've hit deeper than the skin on the subject of Katrina, LOL. But a thousand other people on LJ have delved into the subject, so I'm mostly giving my $.02 and moving on.

Maybe the audience wouldn't call it rape, but he says 'no' and she continues doing it. He wakes up tied to the bed and the girl's fucking his brains out. He's in a public area, tells her 'no' in no uncertain terms, and she just grins at him and keeps at it. To me, that's multiple situations of rape because he only said yes the first time, and no every time after that. He tried running away from her.

Of course, he eventually ends up falling in love with her, so it makes it all okay, right? WTF, society? Had the main character been a female and the rapist a male, that wouldn't be funny at all. So what makes it funny the other way around? Stereotypes that men want the sex. Yeah, sure, physically, I'd believe that too. But they have a brain as well, and it can be tramuatizing to them as well!

Honestly, I feel like society's starting to treat men as nothing but a sex drive. Women want the relationship, men want the sex. *%^)@#$ WTF kind of thinking is that?

i didn't see the movie, but dang, that's horrible!!

at the same time, when i've read all those dub-con/rape fics in the hp fandom, its kinda like the same thing -.-;;;

so i don't know. maybe written literature in that aspect only is within our mind and its not like we really see it. however, in movies, real people are actually acting that kind of scenario out. so, i dunno. now since you've said that, i really don't want to watch the movie tho. however, if you rec an awesome hp fic, with dub-con, i'll most likely read it ^^;;;

i guess that's how it works.

For certain reasons, I don't quite condone the fanfiction. If it's well done, it's certainly believable. Those stories usually include a great amount of angst, and heavy, heavy themes before the 'omg, fall in love!' scenes.

I've written NCS fics before. But it's heavy angst, it's psychological torment and includes quite dubious endings. If there's a well written NCS or dub-con fic, I'd read it too.

I just don't think there's anything funny about it. If it's well done, it just doesn't turn out funny. Not because of the authors, but because it's a serious topic to be writing about.

Maybe I seem a little hypocritical to be saying that. But I certainly hope not.

i like those psychological thrillers, especially with the heavy angst -.-;; okay, now i see your point. its not funny. its not supposed to be humor.

well, no. i don't think we're hypocritical. considering we don't think fiction out there as such is humorous. and that's what i was most afraid of, coming out to sound like a hypocrite, when i enjoy reading a well written fic.

and you aren't hypocritical. its just that the movie had taken such a subject lightly.
