YES. THIS IS WHY SOCIETY SUCKS. GUYS CAN HUG WITHOUT IT BEING ROMANTIC TOO, DAMN IT. >.<
-Gets down off of soap box and takes a deep breath-
I am currently working on the meme right now, in which case all of your questions shall be answered. ... I just need to decide who *I'm* going to write a hug for first. -_-;;
::coughs then points to her icon.:: Theo did hug his brother...twice. There was their group hug at the end. But yes, you are right. Lily hugged the most. MF: Chip hugged Vida when he discover that V was back.((Stranger Within) I am geek, aren't I? XD
-Grins and bounces- I'm totally not offended. In fact, I'm happy to debate with you!
I agree with you on the characterization issue, and definitely that the MMPR cast was a group of young, life-long friends. In contrast to other seasons, it is totally understandable.
But! My argument is more along the lines that after spending roughly a year fighting along side each other, wouldn't the later teams be considered close friends? And yet they *still* don't so much as give a teammate a hug after a focused attack? Not all of them were co-workers, after all.
You're not horrid at all! And I started overanalyzing first. -Grins- And you will be happy to know, I've already set up a no character warping rule for the meme. ^_~
I can see your argument, and yeah, after spending time together they'll be more open to physical affection-- but maybe something a little more understated? Like I could see Jack pat Sky on the back, but I can't see him pulling him into a big hug. So I can see it happening, but only in certain ways, if that makes any sense. I fully admit to being rambly when I'm tired.
I'm a little confused re: 'focused attacks.' Do you mean physical or emotional? With the former they may not want to aggravate damage, but the latter you definitely have a point on.
<3 Hopefully my nerdy English major powers have been used for good?
I agree with you on more understated unless in the case someone nearly died, such as when Bridge was kidnapped and nearly crushed, or when Jack was briefly assumed dead on the meteor mission. Even if it's just a quick 'Oh, thank god you're alive!' moment, I would honestly be amazed if there wasn't hugging in that instance. I wouldn't be expecting like, gushing and tears, but *some* sign of affection wouldn't be so out of place
( ... )
I guess I'm going to jump in here and say that, well, as a very touchy-feely person, I think hugs are awesome, but there are also people who don't want them. So, for some of the characters, giving hugs might be rather out-of-character, but receiving them after stressful situations might not be.
