Have you read the Dirk Gently books? If so, how close is it to the books?

I hope Dave Ermold has similar luck in his election bid.
Our election day was NULL in my state and community. Zippo. People tend to really clump their big thrusts together, for fear of low voter turnout, so at times we have something like 19 ballot initiatives in June, and absolutely nothing in November...

if all the ballot initiatives are in june and there are none in november, of course there's going to be low voter turnout! that seems kind of self-defeating.

Thanks for the tip on Damnation. I adored Manhattan and was hoping it would have a similar feeling. The first episode seems to be taking a lot more of a gun porn/action-oriented route than i had hoped for, but seeing it as a Justified prequel works :)

i totally wasn't expecting a potential justified crossover! but i love that it kind of works. i'm not actually sure how i feel about the show - i don't really like anyone and the two blonde women look distractingly familiar - but it's a intriguing story and i want to know what happens.

I just watched the second ep of Damnation and i am still not sure about it. Clearly they are going for more of a Justified/Banshee type feeling than a Manhattan/Americans one, which is fine in the abstract, but it feels a little crass in the current real-world political climate. I'll stick with it a while, though. Not being American i have never read Grapes of Wrath or learned about any of that era of history, so this could be a good primer.
