do you want curling links, o flist? because you're about to get curling links. :D they're mostly brought to you by the fact that tonight i learned that there's a curling club in new hampster hampshire where people use teakettles filled with cement instead of the standard granite stones. sadly there are no pictures of these curling teakettles, ( Read more... )

I actually have a studded paddle. I don't like it at all, and so far I've only had one partner who was interested, and they quickly determined that they didn't like it either, because that shit HURTS. So now it's mostly decoration and conversation piece. I think it needs a plaque.

"Here rests Cactus Paddle. No one likes him, but he thinks he's pretty."

for real cactus-ness, it should probably have little spines or spikes, rather than just studs. it would still hurt, but if you paint it green it would totally look like a cactus.

That's amazing. I should really do that. It's not like we use the one we have, because it's a very specific kind of pain and most people don't like it. Might as well make it art!

We do have a nice soft furry mitt with spiky bits buried deep in it. It was advertised as a vampire glove, but I call it the bear claw, and I have indeed attached points to it. The cats LOVE it.

You and curling :D How did you even get into curling? I never even knew it existed, until you started talking about it.

Also, you and titles :D

a woman my sister used to work belonged to the curling club, and she asked my sister if she was interested in joining, and my sister asked me. i'd already had the briefest exposure imaginable at a slash con, and the club was down the street from my parents' house, and i said sure, why not. my sister lasted half a season. i clearly stuck with it. :D

and here i thought you'd have something to say about the fact that i could have had cactus! for dinner, and totally didn't.

Clearly I fail. But you should definitely have that cactus next time the opportunity presents itself :D

Lego curlers are cute. For future reference, in case you didn't thought of it, blueberries freeze well to a similarity to frozen peas. Perfect for pulling out to make those muffins or what ever.
