yesterday the mail room guy at work was let go. my immediate response: "but i just saw him like two hours ago!" my second response: "who's going to do the mail now?" he really didn't like working there and was not shy about it, but i always figured he'd leave when he quit. but no. he left when they made him. but who's going to deal with the ( Read more... )

Non spoilery London Spy comment ;) amnisias February 21 2016, 12:16:37 UTC
Have you finished London Spy now? If yes, you're not the only one who felt vaguely confused and thought they'd missed something. But I think they (producer, writer & director) were just more interested in visuals & athomsphere rather than plot, so while it all looked great and was acted splendidly there isn't really a neat and satisfiying conclusion to hang your hat on, it just kind off fizzles out. I just hope this is not even close to how the real Gareth Williams died.

i did finish it! (i had to check imdb to make sure there really were only five episodes.) it's good to know my confusion wasn't just me, altho that's also kind of frustrating. i mean, it was definitely full of atmosphere and not a lot of plot, but i kind of wanted to know what was going on, even if what was going on was "danny does this and this because of that and that and nothing makes any sense".

was alex based on a real person? wow.

Yes, I would have liked a little bit more of an explanation, too. Also, I did not think that 'an algorithm that can detect lies' really was a good McGuffin. Also also, his Mum talking to him when he was suffocating was just so upsetting. And being condemed to die by his own alrorithm, harsh. Particularly, at that point, how did anybody know whether that thing actually worked? And then we've get Dannyl & Alex's Mum riding off into the sunset to bring down MI5, CIA and KGB. Or something.

Well, I assume the idea for the film came from Gareth Williams given the similarities. At least I had to think of that case as soon as we had the body in a crate. But I don't think they've officially referenced it.

the algorithm kinda pushed it into science fiction for me. interesting idea, but like you said, how would they know if it was working or not? i mean, alex could've been telling the truth at the end.

The accidental fundraising is awesome :D Almost as good as the nutjob militia being angry about all the dicks they get in the mail.

the oregon "militia" getting sex toys in the mail was priceless. altho this anti-gay group accidentally funding an lgbtq dance is just as good, on account of it being a total accident. heh.

At least we got to see Ryan Reynolds taking a leak in front of his girlfriend (fiance?) in a superhero movie, in the year of our lord 2016. That was some nice realism. In a movie about a guy who can't die because his mutant cells eat cancer.

wade peeing in front of vanessa was very random, as realistic depictions of relationships go, but a nice touch.

Oh gosh I am so upset by what they are doing to Bellamy. It's the one thing about this season that's bugging me. Otherwise I love what they're doing with this season especially really giving Jasper and Monty a lot more character development. Not LOVING not seeing as much of Raven and Octavia as a result though. I feel like the character I'm least interested in this season is Clarke. Weirdly.

i think bellamy's heart is in the right place, but his decision-making processes, not so much. i've kind of started handwaving his throwing in with pike as him feeling so guilty for accidentally getting a bunch of people in mount weather killed that he's transfered his anger to the grounders, so he can blame someone besides himself. it doesn't make me want to shake him any less, tho.

clarke doesn't seem to have a lot to do this season! which is weird.

I just can't see him turning against Lincoln and his sister. Nevermind Clarke.

I feel like the story feels a bit disjointed this season because each and every character is on a totally different journey right now. None of the main characters are really "TOGETHER" except for Abby and Marcus. I am assuming that some of their individual stories will combine a bit very soon. I think that's why it may seem like Clarke doesn't have a lot to do. She's not at the very center of the bigger story like she was in the first two seasons simply because everyone is off doing their own things and having their own struggles.

The Japanese garden story is really sweet-- and how nice that the world comes to the wife's door now if she is not always in the mood to make a more distant journey herself.

Panguin pictures for the win! The fuzzy brown babies aren't as cute as when they get their later coloring, but the little clueless babies... always so much fun. :D

i saw the penguins and thought of you. :D i think the fuzzy penguin babies are so cute, but possibly that's because they look so fuzzy.
