yesterday the mail room guy at work was let go. my immediate response: "but i just saw him like two hours ago!" my second response: "who's going to do the mail now?" he really didn't like working there and was not shy about it, but i always figured he'd leave when he quit. but no. he left when they made him. but who's going to deal with the mail now? and all the other stuff he did?
we also had a happy hour at four, i assume to make everyone feel better about it being the beginning of the busy season. beer, wine, cheese, crackers, taco chips, dip. i ate a lot of cheese because come on, cheese. also a lot of taco chips because i love them.
today
tamalinn and i saw deadpool, which was bloody, violent, sweary, kinda gross, kinda romantic, and really funny. so pretty much what i was expecting, except for the blood and guts. i'm not used to that kind of violence in my superhero movies. but from what i gather it's appropriate for deadpool, and i'm not complaining, i was just occasionally grossed out. but i enjoyed the movie and i'm really glad i saw it. i even caught a bunch of easter eggs. i think the whole audience stayed for the post-credits sequence, altho i don't know if that's because they knew there was one or if we've just gotten so conditioned by the mcu that we expect all comic book movies will have them now.
the other thing i wasn't expecting was the full-frontal female nudity! in the strip club, when wade and weasel go to find vanessa. full-frontal shaved female nudity. o.O but also, there was some nice naked wade ass, and when he and ajax are fighting in the burning superslave-creating facility, you can see some shadowy peen. so the movie was more equal-opportunity in its nudity than i would have thought. which was kind of nice.
watched the 100, wanted to shake bellamy. watched vikings, side-eyed aslaug really hard and was briefly and obscurely proud of rollo. watched sleepy hollow, wanted to shake the writers. watched elementary, didn't want to shake anybody. watched london spy and was mostly kind of confused. (it's my own fault. i feel like i need to rewatch the whole thing and pay closer attention this time.)
this made the rounds of twitter, but in case you haven't seen it,
an antigay hate group accidentally raised thousands of dollars in an attempt to protest an lgbtq teen dance in australia. tickets were non-refundable and non-transferable, so the group decided to buy up a lot of tickets, under the assumption that this would keep them out of the hands of actual lgbtq teens. except that ticket purchases basically crowd-funded the dance.
a japanese guy's wife went blind, so he
planted a field of flowers for her, hoping she'd enjoy the smell and that people would come visit the field and keep her company. and people do!
harry potter fan builds working replica of the weasleys' clock, so now he and his family know where they all are. there's even an option for "mortal peril".
lots of pics of penguins. penguin awarness day was last month, but every day is a good day to share penguin pics.
