i keep changing my mind about nano

work today was sooooo sloooow. i filled my time by finding and catching up on a web comic called stand still. stay silent (which is weird and adorable and post-apocalyptic and scandinavian and i really like it) and contemplating my nanonovel, which is apparently no longer about the friar and the heretic. >.< i'm half tempted to resurrect parts of ( Read more... )

wtf, doggie love, haven, oskar and conrad, nanowrimo, cool shit, constantine, outer space, chickens, pumpkins, web comics

I liked Constantine when I saw the leaked version online. I understand they tweaked some, most notably bits about the girl since she isn't staying on as a regular anymore. Mostly, I just like doomed, reluctant heroes who are not very nice people. In coats.

i did think matt ryan did a pretty decent job as john - he certainly looks the part altho i couldn't get over how dyed his hair looked - i mean, at least constantine in the comics looks like a natural blond - i guess it was just that i've seen this kind of show before and it didn't give me anything particularly new. that said, it is a pilot and i'm going to watch it next week in case i like it better. and he's definitely doomed, reluctant, and not a nice person.

i don't know how much they tweaked, other than writing liv out and changing the possessed security guard who taunts john on a roof - in the leaked pilot he's apparently still just a security guard but in the televised pilot he changes shape to look like a decomposing john, which was nicely creepy.

Aww that's awesome about the deaf dog being adopted by the deaf man. My doggie was in a litter of 3, and he had a deaf brother who was adopted by a deaf couple. My older brother is not deaf, but he and his wife have a deaf dog and she is such a sweet girl. It's sad that so many overlook a dog who's deaf! I would've considered a deaf dog, but that one had already been adopted, and I was stuck on my pup - something about his sweet face. And now he's cuddled against my leg so it all worked out nicely. :)

I keep changing my mind about NaNo, too. I have two stories, each from previous NaNo's, either of which would be great to continue. Or I might choose something completely new all together. Blah, I don't know yet! Decisions, decisions... ;)

awww, puppy! (for yours cuddling against your leg. :D ) props to the couple who adopted your dog's deaf brother. and to your brother and sister-in-law, too. how do they talk to their dog? do they use sign language?

i can't believe picking an idea for nano is so hard. but it is! what the hell. and if you have more than two ideas, you can't just flip a coin.

Yes, my brother and his wife use sign language for their dog. They do things like give her a thumbs up for doing something they wanted her to do, but they have to do it right in front of her face, because she's also half blind. She's been deaf and half blind since birth. Something about how when people breed Australian Shepherds to get white coats, they get all white litters, but then the dogs are all blind and deaf to some degree. :/ So for that breed, particularly, people should know what they're doing and not just breed them in their backyard for a few bucks, or whatever. Not that anyone should ever do that. Anyway! When I first heard about their dog, I thought they were crazy, that she'd bite everyone and not be trainable. but then I went to visit them and she is the sweetest ever. They even use scents on doorways so she can have an extra easy time finding her way around. She likes to sit in your lap even though she's too big to do so. She's not a huge dog, but not the size of a lap dog either, haha! She makes herself ( ... )

i never would've thought of putting scent markers on doorways, how cool! the little penlights are a neat idea too. your brother and his wife must be serious dog people, and it's pretty obvious they really love their dog. she sounds like a complete sweetheart.

my parents used to have a reasonably large chocolate lab who also thought he was a lap dog. he was tall, and at his full growth he weighed about a hundred pounds - he sat on my dad once and they broke a kitchen chair. >.< (my dad was not a small person back then either. that poor chair.)

this is my twelfth nano (!!!) altho two years i didn't finish. altho once was because i went on vacation for ten days.... i keep doing it mostly to prove to myself that i still can. but usually i have an idea of what i'm going to do by now! bah. good luck to you! here's hoping you settle on an idea before saturday.

If you want to see some of Apollo Robbins' work, try Leverage. The showrunners used him as a consultant for most of the series and as a character in one of the episodes, "The Two Live Crew Job."

i watched leverage! i admit it never occurred to me that they might have hired a consultant for any of the thefts or con type stuff, but how cool.
