I got called and I am BITTER BITTER BITTER. Not because I don't want to serve (I'm a lawyer, if not in action, at least by degree and bar membership, and I really want to go) but because even though I work across the street from a courthouse, I have to travel TWO HOURS to the west side of the city on PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION to get there at 8:30. I am 100% pro public transportation, but man, I'm going to have to leave my house at 6:30am! I'm not even AWAKE at 6:30am!

BITTER BITTER BITTER.

(well, ok, I may not even have to do it. I'm a standby juror. but still.)

i would be bitter too! that's weird - because there's a much more convenient courthouse to you - but mostly annoying. one of the women on the jury lived close enough to go home for lunch. i was jealous.

duuuuude -- here you wouldn't be allowed to serve! Members of the bar are a no no. As are veterinarians. huh.

Many regions in the US (the Washington, DC, metro area being one that I know about for sure) can no longer excuse members of the bar because there are so many lawyers in the area that if they excuse them the district cannot be assured of having a full jury pool.

Good luck with the jury duty! I got lucky two weeks ago and never got empaneled. And late last week, I got my "you're off the hook for the next three years" certificate in the mail.

Clearly I am *weird* because I think jury duty sounds potentially interesting - passive research! woot!

also - photos of your day! also woot!

so far jury duty is an exercise in staying awake and paying attention when all i really want to do is take a nap. >.< i like my fellow jurors, at least.
