because one meme isn't enough

Taken from puszisty.

I'll post the first line of all my full-length fics. You choose one and comment with a drabble/ficlet starting with the same line, unrelated to the original story. Ready? Go!

I added a couple ficlet/drabble openers for variety.

I wrote a Gaeta drabble for tin here, and a Tigh drabble for puszisty there. Both are short and cracky.

On most days, Gaeta received his daily dose of gossip from Dee. He rarely, almost never reciprocated. When he did his gossip, invariably accurate, always made Dee giggle. He seemed to wait until he had the funniest rare bit of news. But did he really have to tell her that her father-in-law, the admiral, was frakking the president right before they ran into Tigh. Not only was it an image she did not want in her head, but now Tigh thought she was a giggling loon. Dee forgave him when they turned the corner and he observed, in his most innocent voice, "Vice-President Zarek's not going to be happy, he's had the hots for President Roslin since New Caprica."

Only for you, Trovia, would I write post-finale Kara. Because it was your birthday and because a part of me will never really stop thinking or worrying about Kara ( ... )

Awww that was great! You took my Kara porn and made it creepy gen! Everything about that scenario is unusual. :D It made me snicker to think Kara would meet Felix in the afterlife. That's what she deserves for going poof on Lee. Thank you for making an exception for me. :)

Yay, you liked it! I wasn't going to write it but it was your birthday the other day and an interesting idea that tugged at me. Gen, I know! And well, I miss my two favorite characters. It was going to be a bit darker but then I brought out my boy. :-) Oh, the snark between these two would be fabulous!

Now, wait, this was actually from a porn story? I love your porn! *off to read or reread*

I love the idea of Gaeta and Kara in the afterlife. Hopefully, after the teeth-gnashing and hair-pulling ends they'll be able to make their peace.

There were days when Felix Gaeta wished he were a Cylon. But now that he knew that he was one, he wanted nothing more than to be human.

He'd thought the cylons had it easier, living without the memories of the loss of everyone and everything they loved. However, it seemed that knowing that all those things had never existed for him didn't make it any easier. The memories were still there, even if they weren't real. Running through his parent's yard, swinging on the swingset in the playground...

Aside from Boomer, Felix had probably been the only one on board Galactica who had never even seen a playground. But it wasn't so much that. It was that, before four years ago, he'd never even had a life.

And that hurt more than having lost it.

Oh, ouch, so sad, but very real to the universe and Felix within it.

Aww that's sad. It's a lovely little addition to the DUFE words which, as you know, I adore.

"The Blue Film" (Part 1) kappamaki33 August 7 2009, 03:58:29 UTC
“The Blue Film”
(Concept unabashedly stolen from the Graham Greene short story of the same name. This story is not entirely unrelated to the original, because it’s set in the same ‘verse, and I changed the tense of the sentence because writing in present-tense for a whole fic drives me batty.)

Brendan had won a porn sample tonight at the card games. Video porn, even, which was quite rare nowadays. Ideally, he would have liked to have enjoyed it in private first-he had nothing against sharing; it was just that watching porn took on a different character when you did it with half the Viper wing and a quarter of the bridge crew-but word of his big win had spread quickly, and the only working videotape player was in the rec room.

“What kind is it?” asked Narcho as he and Thumper maneuvered a sofa through the hatch and dropped it near the viewing screen with a resounding thump. They both hopped over the back and landed hard on the worn cushions ( ... )

I did! It was so much fun! Glad you liked it; I'm almost a little sad that it's too late for the pornbattle. ;)

I want to know what happened next, too. :D

Well, keep that request in mind...I keep eyeing that timestamp meme and thinking it would be fun once I get "Mathematics" and "Companion Pieces" finished...

Sorry I missed it, and this may not be your ideal gift, but it's funny where the muse takes you.

Winters on Aerelon are frakking cold.Sharon's mind tells itself this over and over - a mantra repeated endlessly in the hopes that it will somehow transform into a memory, an amalgamation of perceptions of the dozen or so winters Sharon "Boomer" Valerii spent every year on Aerelon, visiting her grandparents for the holidays ( ... )

Aww this is great! Thank you so much! It's such an interesting moment in Boomer's story (it's just before her story stopped making sense to me, too- I was actually a huge fan of Boomer before Cally shot her. She was the first thing that made me love the show). I love how you have her muse on her programming. It's naive in a way and still it's very preminiscent of her future relationship with Cavil. All the more ironic that Tyrol is a Cylon, too. He was so pointedly human at that time. Then again, so was Boomer.

I'm so glad you liked it. I was interested in Boomer too, especially during the buildup to her shooting Adama. It seemed so horribly unfair that this was happening to her. I feel like Athena kind of stole her life, you know?

I hadn't even thought of the Cavil connection, to be honest, but you're totally right. It's exactly the kind of thing he would have said, and probably did say to her once they were together (still WTF-ing about *that* one).

Yeah, I loved writing the part with Tyrol. I love me some heartbreaking irony. ;)
