Took me long enough, didn't it?

So, getting right down to business.  This next batch of comics comes from this past fall.  It's my first attempt at a major story, going beyond the four-strip plots I had done already.  I think I succeeded for the most part.  Some of by best art and writing is here, and I also introduced a few more characters.  I'm ( Read more... )

So, this week's strip was the last for the Spring '08 semester, and the last for my sophomore year.  Since I was the only cartoonist who contributed comics on a regular basis to the paper, I was given the job as staff cartoonist.  And that's how I got to where I am today.

I said this in the post for the first comic, I think, that I created the characters when I was in high school.  One of those characters was a dog named Trevor, who makes his first appearance in this strip.  Don't ask me why I picked that name.  Like everything else having to do with the characters, it just came to me.

Again with character development.  This time, on Sarah, aka, the co-worker.  I'm hoping to expand my characters so that they can be described by their personalities rather than just what the do.  So on that note, I bring you the final strip in this little mini-arc.

( Yes, I said 'little mini'. Hooray for redundancy. )

Continuing the story started in last week's strip, I tried to further establish the characters.  Something I constantly worry about is how dimensional the characters are, whether they're too bland, or doing something out of character, etc.  This was an attempt to showcase Emily, aka the short girl.

Almost didn't do this week either.  Almost.

Okay, so, getting back to the comics, this next one is the start of a short storyline, but the beginning of it is weird.

The title doesn't have anything to do with the comic.  But I'm feeling elated right now, and I wanna do this before I come back to reality.

So.  This next one was the first strip for the spring semester of this year.  Not this semester.  The last semester.  Of this year.

Anyway, one thing about this strip is that it has no real punchline.  Or at least, it has two 'half jokes' that don't really provide some kind of standard punchline, but just funny bits of insight.  Or ( Read more... )

I missed an update.  I guess that means I'm a real webcomic artist now.

The last comic I posted was for the final paper of the Fall '07 semester. I figure that's a good place for an interlude.  The regular monkeyshines will continue next week, but for now, let's take a look at my job.
