Despite the late night at the bowling alley (look, he liked bowling and he'd been avoiding his room a bit and the nachos had been plentiful), Nathan was up at a fairly decent time. The sun was still out (though hidden by clouds) and everything. Sure, it was fucking cold all the sudden (where the hell had the spring weather gone?) but he hadn't slept in till evening. That, Nathan decided, was an accomplishment.
Since it was still too early to start Saturday night festivities, Nathan did what any young adult male would do when the room was quiet and empty. He lit a cigarette, put his iPod earbuds in his ears, turned the music up loud and...started doing laundry. Yeah, shut up. He figured most of his shit could use a wash and it wasn't like someone was going to come 'round and do it for him. He'd already stripped his bedding off his mattress and had a pile of clothes stuffed in a bag.
His mum would be proud. Or something. Of course, he was texting his mum while he was walking back and forth from the laundry room, trying to make sure he did this shit right because he didn't need to shrink or ruin the few clothes he had. His mum was willing to help but she also wanted to ask about the jumpers Jeremy sent him, his mysterious roommate, school at large and if he'd kept himself out of trouble. Nathan told her that he was wearing a jumper of Jeremy's now (he wasn't), his roommate had moved out citing religious difficulties (she hadn't), he was acing all his classes (not a chance), and he'd only been arrested for indecent exposure (close but no cigar).
Needless to say, his mum didn't find him amusing but Nathan didn't care. He found himself amusing and was amusing himself by telling his mum lies while he waited for his latest round of clothes to dry. It was a simple life he led.
