Room 509, Wednesday

Jul 07, 2010 11:13

After Raven had returned everyone to Fandom (and Sam to New York and Anakin to Rory and Juliet), she just wanted to retreat to her room to grieve. She was moving like a zombie, barely speaking, still almost entirely numb to what had happened. Her father had been forced back into his own dimension, but her mother was gone forever now in order to ( Read more... )

Joan had definitely not been willing to let Raven stay alone. She tried to give her friend comfort and space at the same time which was difficult to say the least.

"Raven, you really should eat something," she said. "How about I run to town and pick up some muffins from J,GOB?"

"I am not hungry," Raven insisted quietly. The thought of food made her stomach twist even more than it already was.

"I know, but you're going to get sick if you don't eat," Joan said.

"I do not become sick easily," Raven said. That much was true, her ability to heal made most mundane illnesses almost unable to affect her.

After Drake's class, Karla had just gone back to her room and crawled into bed for a few, blissful hours of unconsciousness. But after her nap was over, she woke up and headed immediately for Raven's room to check on her. Losing a parent was traumatic enough. Watching it happen was even worse.

She tapped lightly on the door, in case Raven had some how, miraculously, fallen asleep.

Raven knew it was Karla at the door. And she knew Karla would know she was inside. So with that knowing, she called softly, "Come in, Karla."

Karla entered and immediately walked to Raven and wrapped her arms around her. No impassioned kisses this time, just wordless promises of friendship and support. "I'm not going to ask how you're doing," she whispered into Raven's hair. "I know. You're hurting and crying and wondering how the Hell the world can still be turning. You're nicer than I am, so you might not be wondering how people can go on like nothing's happened, but if you are, trust me, it's normal."

Raven clung to Karla. "I am sorry," she whispered.

Because she was Raven, after all.

Diana sat crossed legged across from Raven and deposited Samuel by her emo roommate.

Samuel got the hint and nudged Raven with his nose.

Raven reached down to scritch Samuel's head. "Hello, Samuel," she said softly. "You were very brave to come with us."

Samuel purred under Raven's hand and jumped into her lap. "Someone had to keep you lot of trouble." He purred.

Diana rolled her eyes. "Need anything?"

Raven shook her head. "I do not think so, thank you," she murmured. "Though I have missed my class today and must find someone who is taking Heroes and Villains as well."

After some time to sleep and recover, Dinah stopped by Raven and Diana's room. "Hey." She crossed the room to Raven, eyes level, offering a hug. "I said it before, but I'm so sorry. And so glad you're still alive."

"You were not supposed to come after me," Raven said, though not ungratefully. She accepted the hug, though, and tried not to start crying again. She wasn't sure she had any tears left.

"Only in your mind. Not in anyone else's," Dinah said, voice soft as she hugged Raven carefully. "None of this, by the way? Is your fault. Just in case you wondered." Hopefully she hadn't been thinking that at all.

"How is it not my fault?" Raven said, voice quiet. "I brought you all into danger. You were harmed because of me. And my mother sacrificed herself to save me."

Raven had come by to check on him when he'd been hiding from everyone in the safe room last year, it seemed only right that he come by to check on her now.

"Raven?" he called out as he knocked on the door. "You there?"

"I am, Bobby," Raven called, just barely loud enough to be heard on the other side of the door. "You may come in."

She was still sitting on the floor by her bed as she had been for several hours.

"Hey," he let himself in and wandered over to sit across from her. "I'd ask how you're doing but that'd be a pretty stupid question."

"I am alive," Raven said. "And that is thanks in no small part to you. You have my gratitude for that, Bobby."
