Grogginess from the untold months or years of stasis might’ve left the Doctor vulnerable for a longer time in any other circumstance. Luckily for him, the combined forces of the chill of the pod fluid in the open air and the weight of his previous thoughts were an excellent stimulator ( ... )

Tarrant, for his part, was also naked, though he had the advantage of no longer being covered in slime. His gaze flickered toward the Doctor. Studying him. Listening to the cadence of his voice. After a moment, he spoke.

"Let's not be so rash, shall we? Shouting may draw unwanted attention."

Some logic was present in that statement, yes, but he was not in the mood to calm down. At all. He conceded to politeness just slightly, lowering his voice and folding his arms over his chest.

"From who? We've been sitting ducks in those pods for who knows how long, haven't we? If they wanted us dead, they had more than enough time. Could be leading us into a trap, but we can take our time and work it out."

Tarrant made a noncommittal gesture with one hand; he could explain the various scenarios in which people might want them dead who might not have had access to them while they were still in the pods, but that would require being helpful. And he'd already accomplished what he'd wanted, which was for the Doctor to lower his voice. Now it was the time on Sprockets when introductions.

He gave the Doctor an elegant bow, made none the less graceful for his complete length of clothing. The movement was precise, practiced. "Gerald Tarrant. And you are?"

Kais was paying attention when he stepped out, being perfectly accustomed to following orders when in a situation that confused him. Unfortunately, he was also small in comparison to humans, standing a little over half the height of the huge rock creature.

It didn't help, though, that without his armor functions, he had awful depth perception and he didn't realize how close it was. That is, until it practically knocked him on his butt. Kais didn't complain but Orc probably felt the impact with the blue skinned alien.

Had Orc been drinking...as he wished so dearly, he might not have but in this horribly sharp state of awareness he did and looked down confused at first, as if he couldn't comprehend what had just happened.

Kais pulled himself to his feet and looked up at Orc with his eyes that disturbingly lacked pupils. Polite...he had ot be polite. This was clearly a first encounter and manners for this type of situation had been implanted on his consciousness as a newborn.

"My apologies. It seems I was in your way."

Gerald Tarrant (Coldfire trilogy) coldfire_adept January 2 2012, 01:55:02 UTC
Tarrant opened his eyes, instinctively examining the currents around him for danger. He was vulnerable here, exposed in more ways than one. For an instant, he shrank back from the dim lighting in the pod chamber, then relaxed. Slightly.

Delicate violet strands of power stretched out into the darkness, invisible to any without the Sight. Power that had been pooling in this dark chamber, allowed to grow. It had not been exposed to sunlight, then - not for some time. He reached out to it, coaxing it forth. As he expected, it leapt to obey him, as a dog coming to heel at the feet of its master. With a slight grimace of distaste, he used its power to shed the layer of slime that covered him, leaving him damp, unclothed… but clean and un- disheveled. That finished, he straightened, scanning the room once more with cool grey eyes that betrayed nothing of the thoughts flickering behind them.

Information. He required it, and someone here would give it to him. Willingly… or with some encouragement.

Madoka should have been used to it by then. Really. She'd already died once. If death wasn't the ultimate mind-fogger, nothing else could be.

But yet, here she was, dazed and confused. A "Great Purpose"? Maybe she'd been resurrected for it. But was there really someone-something with great enough power to bring back the dead?

The being that called itself Stacy said things would be explained, though...that enough was a bit reassuring. So she shuffles along, trying to spot any familiar faces.

The only good thing about being turned to stone was the everlasting knowledge that Haruka had saved Yukino from whatever that thing that had looked strangely reminiscent of her old rival. She knew it hadn't been that bubuzuke woman - Shizuru wasn't that underhanded - but still... the resemblance had been a bit eerie. When she finally started feeling things again, she breathed a sigh of relief, only to cough up some of the slime she'd accidentally inhaled ( ... )

"Um. Well I suppose it's just the general situation, Miss. Waking up in a strange place that's definitely not home, being told you're wanted for a greater mission..." Madoka pauses, fingering a bit of her hair.

"The generalities, in short."

The girl was about the right age to enroll into Garderobe, so Haruka immediately looked at the girl's left ear, half-expecting to see a coral GEM in it. But no, there was nothing there.

"Oh." Haruka was silent a moment then nodded. "Chin up, girl. We've been chosen so we must stand tall. Strength, beauty, power... Remember those."

To be honest, Christine hadn't remembered ever being so relaxed, not in a long time. She'd been so wound up for so long that there hadn't been a minute to just sleep for sleep's sake. The voice went in one ear and out the other, and just so fast...sploosh, she fell awkwardly on her side, a tangle of limbs and slime.

Humidity wasn't common in the Mojave, even if heat was- it was the damp wetness that threw her through a loop. She tried to quickly gain her footing, grab for the gun that wasn't there, but in the end she realized this was nothing like the Madre. Her nudity didn't bother her as much as it probably should have, in lieu her lacking a weapon in a strange place.

The only comforting thought she had was that this couldn't be Elijah's doing.

There was another pop nearby.

"... you know," said the older man who emerged, "I'm naked and covered in slime. I'm at least thirty years past the point where I would've had an excuse for that."

Christine whipped her head around, making a squicked out face when a string of slime that had clung to her ear whirled around to smack her in the chin. She wiped her face, running her hands over the back of her head before finally responding.

"I'm at least thirty years past when this is okay." And she was still in her twenties. Christine was methodical with getting the slime off her hands, regarding the man without much sense of bodyshyness.

Roger dragged a hand over his face and let out a sigh. "Weirdest briefing I've ever had," he muttered. "Are you hearing it too?"

He'd worry about the naked part later. When everyone was in the same circumstances, it didn't really count.
