The only good thing about being turned to stone was the everlasting knowledge that Haruka had saved Yukino from whatever that thing that had looked strangely reminiscent of her old rival. She knew it hadn't been that bubuzuke woman - Shizuru wasn't that underhanded - but still... the resemblance had been a bit eerie. When she finally started feeling things again, she breathed a sigh of relief, only to cough up some of the slime she'd accidentally inhaled.

"Ugh." This was worse than adjusting to the nanomachines back when she'd first enrolled at Garderobe. Shaking her head, she looked around. This... this wasn't Aries. This was... Had she been eaten by something while petrified?

Then the voice entered her mind, reminding her very much of Yukino. So much that she mistook it for her master, transmitted through her GEM, that she mumbled out her pledge once more as she focused. Of course, she was chosen. She was a Meister Otome. She was the Continental Orb Topaz.

...wait. Did she just?

Blinking, Haruka got to her feet, wiped her face clean and started looking around. No, she would find her master... her love...

"Yukino?" Haruka didn't see her, so she called out louder. "Yukino!"

Still no one responded, so she started stomping off in a random direction. It wasn't until she passed by the dazed girl that something more pressing hit Haruka. She stopped and knelt by the girl.

"What's wrong?"

"Um. Well I suppose it's just the general situation, Miss. Waking up in a strange place that's definitely not home, being told you're wanted for a greater mission..." Madoka pauses, fingering a bit of her hair.

"The generalities, in short."

The girl was about the right age to enroll into Garderobe, so Haruka immediately looked at the girl's left ear, half-expecting to see a coral GEM in it. But no, there was nothing there.

"Oh." Haruka was silent a moment then nodded. "Chin up, girl. We've been chosen so we must stand tall. Strength, beauty, power... Remember those."

No gem on her ear, yes, but there was an extra gold-banded ring with an embedded pink-gemstone on her right ring-finger.

"Ah...alright." Madoka tries to give a smile. "I'll try my best." Although it was less that the simple words helped her be less afraid, and more that this strange older girl reminded her of both her mother and...Mami. At least, before things went horribly wrong. She tried to push those thoughts out of mind, however.

The girl clearly wasn't royalty, so the possibility that the girl was a GEM master didn't even cross Haruka's mind. The girl probably just found the ring or it was a keepsake of some sort. Still, Haruka shook her head.

"No, that won't work." She stood back up and looked down at the girl. "You don't just try to have it, you have to have it. Power, beauty and GUTS!" Haruka emphasized that last word with a clenching of her fist.

Then she smiled and poked the girl gently in the stomach. "You've got guts, right?"

There's a mild radiation of something magic from it, but otherwise it probably does seem normal.

"I...think I do. Maybe."

"Good! Those are the most important. Guts get you further than anything else," Haruka replied. She put her hand on top of the girl's head.

"I'll be your Onee-sama. Help you develop those guts into steel, show you the patch to being the best! What's your name? I'm Haruka Armitage, Meister Otome of Aries."

Madoka flinched slightly. She wasn't used to be so physical with anyone except Homura.

"Um...alright. If you say so. I'm Madoka Kaname."

If Haruka noticed the flinch, she didn't react, nor did she take her hand off Madoka's head. Really, the girl was going to have to get used to Haruka's physical proximity as the meister didn't care much about personal space.

"Alright, Madoka, let's go find out what's going on around here. You can count on me for anything, so don't go running off. We have big destinies before us!"
