Come fly with me [OPEN]

Feb 25, 2011 19:28

Sofia rose above the city, riding on the wind. Even though a lot of the city was a mess, there was something calming about seeing everything from the air. It brought her a sense of peace and perspective. But mostly she liked using her powers, especially after thinking she would never be able to use them again ( Read more... )

There was someone around who didn't fly, but the way he moved, you'd think he would.

Racing across the rooftops, leaping from one to the next like an expert parkour runner, Sonic caught up with Sofia, watching her with interest. She seemed almost like Fate, except, well... no sword or lightning or that odd military outfit.

"Nice moves! Kinda makes me jealous!" Sonic called out, grinning.

Sofia drifted lower so she could speak with him.

"That makes two of us. I wish I could run like you."

"Really now?" Sonic said. "I'm kinda surprised. I'd figured a lot of you wouldn't want to do something like that!"

It was almost interesting to see someone wanting to run. Especially since most of his friends and allies could fly in some manner.

"I would not give up flying for it but I still think it is very cool."Sofia admitted. She landed on the roof by Sonic. "I've wondered what it must be like."

The last person that Sofia probably wanted to see was right there.

Kara Zor-El.

Supergirl.

And she was approaching Sofia with a friendly, if hesitant, smile.

Sofia stopped the moment she saw Kara. "Oh, no." She whispered.

What was SHE doing here?

"What do you want?"

"To talk," Kara said, keeping a good two arms' lengths away from Sofia. "And to apologize for my behaviour the last time we...talked."

"A little late for that, isn't it? And not because of GLaDOS." And then another thought crossed her mind and she didn't hold it back in time. "Or are you really here because you ran into Julian and want to gloat?"

Marco was in osprey morph, heading back home after talking to Kang. He kept an eye on the flying girl - damn, he wouldn't be able to just head straight home while there were other people in the sky that could see him. He'd have to land somewhere on foot, or wait around until she flew off first.

Unfortunately for Marco, Sofia wasn't heading anywhere. She was too at ease in the sky.

The sky which had totally distorted wind currents. It was probably a good thing that Marco didn't try flying in them.

He tried to fly around her - except unexpectedly a gust of wind rushed at him, pushing him out of line. Cursing to himself, Marco readjusted his wings so that he could fly steady again.

Except Sofia just changed directions, which meant the wind changed as well. More turbulence ahead, Marco.

Starfire always felt a thrill at the prospect of flying again. It had been too long since she'd done it aimlessly in such a wide space. There were boundaries, of course, but in that moment she couldn't care less.

She noted that another girl was flying today, her face serene. Sofia---the person she was going to help with prom, correct? Perhaps she had someone to share joy with? It wouldn't hurt to make an attempt at finding out?

"Hello!"

"Oh, hello! Starfire, right?" Sofia adjusted her course so she could fly alongside her.

"Yes!" Starfire cheered, twirling through the air and maneuvering into position. She loved this.

"It is wonderful to meet you in person, Sofia. To share in the joy of flight is a wonderful gift."

And a welcome break from the intrusive thoughts that tended to weigh on a mind.

"Same. I didn't know you could fly. You do it very well. I'm still a little rusty." Sofia smiled.

Lockon still couldn't decide how much he liked the City. It was different, and real, but it was also eery and reminded him of things he would rather forget. He paused briefly, glancing up when he sensed that there was something unusual going on today.

Haro beeped to confirm. "Flying! Flying!"

Sofia noticed that she was being watched and flew down to land not far away from Lockon. "Hi." She said brightly. "My name is Sofia. I don't think we have met before."

"Sofia! Sofia!" Haro repeated, bouncing happily towards her.

"Oi! Haro!" Lockon half-heartedly chased after the little yellow robot.

"What- who," Sofia corrected herself because you could never be sure on Stacy. "Is that?"
