Come fly with me [OPEN]

Sofia rose above the city, riding on the wind. Even though a lot of the city was a mess, there was something calming about seeing everything from the air. It brought her a sense of peace and perspective. But mostly she liked using her powers, especially after thinking she would never be able to use them again ( Read more... )

The last person that Sofia probably wanted to see was right there.

Kara Zor-El.

Supergirl.

And she was approaching Sofia with a friendly, if hesitant, smile.

Sofia stopped the moment she saw Kara. "Oh, no." She whispered.

What was SHE doing here?

"What do you want?"

"To talk," Kara said, keeping a good two arms' lengths away from Sofia. "And to apologize for my behaviour the last time we...talked."

"A little late for that, isn't it? And not because of GLaDOS." And then another thought crossed her mind and she didn't hold it back in time. "Or are you really here because you ran into Julian and want to gloat?"

Kara looked down and away from Sofia's gaze. The last thing she wanted was for Sofia to see her blush. Because Kara had run into Julian, and one thing had pretty much led to the next. And it had been wonderful.

"I swear, this is a gloat-free zone, Sofia."

With that kind of reaction, Sofia didn't need to see her blush.

"You have said all you need to say. Leave me alone." If her response was cold before, it was icy now.

The blush on Kara's face faded at that. It wasn't, though, replaced with the angry flush that Sofia was no doubt by now all too familiar with.

"I understand that you don't want to see me, much less talk to me after what I did to you, Sofia. It was beyond horrible, and it's exactly the sort of thing that Kon and Kal would look down on me for. It's unforgiveable, and I'm not looking to you for forgiveness. But I want to at least start making amends." She looked back up at Sofia. "You can understand that much, can't you?"

"I understand that I tried to be your friend. Maybe I could forgive you, if you had only hurt me once, but-" Her voice started to choke and she paused so she could get control of it again.

"But what I did was hurt you multiple times in one go." Kara nodded. "I know. If I could take it back, I would. I know that probably means nothing but..." Kara sighed. "I told Julian that I was turning over a new leaf, and I meant it. And I really do want to find a way to resolve our issues. We're stuck on this ship, and we're going to have to fight for our very existence probably and..." Kara shrugged. "Do you see where I'm getting at?"

Sofia breathed. Why did her throat hurt this much? Why did she hurt?

"I am going to give you some advice, Kara. And then I am going to leave." Another deep breath, she closed her eyes for a moment and when she opened them she had regained some of her previous calm. "Julian does not care about you, not how you care about him. It does not matter how much you love him or how much of yourself you give him, in the end he'll move onto someone else. He'll hurt you and he will not even realize why. I know because it happened to me." And it wasn't just because of Kara. There would have been someone else. There always would have been someone else.

"I don't want to see you again, Kara. Maybe one day when I'm ready, but until then I don't want to talk to you. And you can tell Hellion that the same goes for him."

Before Kara could respond Sofia flew off, silently praying she wouldn't be followed.

A variety of emotions flitted over Kara's face at Sofia's words and retreat. There was shock, there was anger, there was hurt, there was sadness, and some spite as well.

Possibly what hurt the most was how much she'd hurt Sofia.

What kind of monster am I? she wondered. Is that why GLaDOS wanted to study me? She shook her head and exited, making sure not to follow Sofia.

There were some things that Kara needed to think about.
