Ah, so it was a case of basic thievery. Of course.
Or chronic borrowing. Funny little distinction.
He hadn’t been particularly surprised to find out that this civilization knew who he was. Or, rather, a version of who he was. Stories, he’d told Amelia Pond. All stories in the end. Word tended to get around when you were traveling, after all, and it was really just one of those Things. Echoes across time and space itself

Daniel folded his arms around his chest, the movement an unconscious habit, as if the archaeologist was wishing very hard at that very moment that he could either A) suddenly develop the ability to either generate a barrier around himself or B) that he could fade from scrutiny.
Or failing either A) or B), preferably make him very much not a part of this. So some people would argue that there relevant, ethical concerns to archaeology. "Grave robbers", "thieves", some people said, and those were the polite ones. But this- As much as he could sympathize with the clones; these were a people who were bred only to be oppressed, and you couldn't stand there and let it happen... and he certainly understood the benefits of the medical technology the practical side of things, they were actually going in, with the deliberate intentionof stealing from a people they were trying to negotiate with earlier. These people weren't like the Goa'uld. They weren't the enemy. What was he supposed to do, happily go along? keep his mouth shut? Like a good
( ... )
"This is helping the clones," Jr. responded. He sniffed, still hating the need to make the distinction, especially while he still had that oh so noticeable mark on his forehead. And it was true that they were technically helping them by going along with the whole plan by the CLF. "They were probably used to make the tech in the first place," in more ways than one, not a good thought, "so when we get it for ourselves, we can share it with them. I think they have some rights to it in that case."
There was so the fact that Jr. was still pissed off about what was done to him. Call it getting even. As long as they weren't aiming to hurt anyone, it was okay to him.
"Good morning, Mr. Jones, Mr. Red. If you need any assistance during your inspection, please buzz us at the front desk," said a women at the front desk, buzzing them right on through when their credentials were displayed. Jr. was ignored.
The devices they'd been given would allow them to bypass any DNA and retinal scans as well, but it was a long way through the facility to get what they wanted, and a lot of time to be discovered. They had to hope to not draw attention to themselves to cause security to match them up with footage of them as delegates from the GIA.
Nodding at the woman, Doctor swept through as if he made it personal point to impersonate key figures just because. He kept his chin lifted. Impressive big old chin like that and it was only natural that he cut a spindly figure in his uniform. Very scientist.
He had to resist the urge to go nosing (too much) about the facilities. Very difficult. All this interesting stuff practically asking to be sniffed at, all equally fascinating, and they were on something of a time table, weren't they? Right, bit of one, yeah. The Doctor veered a right, swiveling on his heel and expecting Daniel and Junior to be close by. Remind him to ask Daniel what the "Gou'ald" where. Allies of the Ohm? First he'd heard of that name. The Doctor waited until they were heading down one of the more narrow corridors before he turned toward Daniel and Junior.
"Mr. Red," the Doctor glanced at Daniel, keeping his voice raised because by now, he assumed they'd be at least a little monitored. Rather poor security if they weren't. "You probably ought to stay outside
( ... )
"Is it?" Daniel didn't look entirely convinced. He agreed with JR. on one thing, and that was the clones very likely had a right to it. But he also thought that the mainframe would have been their own affair, especially when their rights as living beings and their freedom came first. This was extra, it wasn't helping the clones right now where they needed it the most... and with people like Luthor thrown in the mix for their leadership's ear, who was he fooling? This wasn't a humanitarian mission. This taking advantage and grabbing what you could in the confusion
( ... )
Jr., on the other hand, didn't look too thrilled with the whole 'being ignored' thing, but he tried his best to look as inconspicuous and un-foreign as possible despite his feelings. Even as a child, the scientists at the Institute didn't ignore him. Of course, that's because positivity was part of his upbringing - they couldn't have a sad neglected child for leader of their mission. So in comparison, being ignored was better, even if it was annoying.
He looked up to the Doctor, still unsure exactly how he should be acting. The members of the CLF seemed emotional enough ... and Jr. didn't get a chance to meet many of the clones with less of a will. He figured maybe they were like the standard URTV units he was raised with, so tried not to put too much emotion into his voice. "Okay, Mr. Jones." And Jr. took a step forward-- and then stopped, figuring he should probably be the one who followed the Doctor inside.
"Morning, sir," said one of two guards on the inside of the room. Oddly, enough, they were clones, but then this was not exactly a military facility or anything like it, more like the Department of the Interior or some such on another world.
"We've been told that you're here for an inspection?"

The Doctor dipped his head. "Morning!"
With Junior at his side, he felt all very safe and secure and even if he didn't, he certainly wasn't going to show it. He didn't miss a beat.
"That's right. My assistant and I are going to inspect this and I suppose, well...you two! You both look like you could use an inspection. In fact," the Doctor was doing one of those horrid little winging-it things. Good thing Daniel wasn't in the room. "My assistant here can handle your individual inspections. I'll pop on ahead and get the rest out of the way, you know how time schedules are
( ... )
Jr. took the wallet, nodding up at the Doctor, though he honestly had no idea what the things would actually do. He figured he'd just ... try if things started getting uncomfortable or odd. As much as he figured that an inspection in this case was going to be something along the lines of turning suspicion onto others to try and get any potential suspicion off of them for long enough.
But with the guards now within distance to see any slip-up in their disguise, Jr. made sure to let none of those thoughts seep through onto his expression. "I'll get on it right away, sir." he said.
Skip me until you need Eleven back? makeherblueJuly 31 2011, 02:31:15 UTC
The Doctor wheeled around and took two giant, lanky steps toward the guard, leaning right into whatever sense of personal space he might have. Assuming he had any. Humans seemed to be fond of it, but that was back in his universe, so it was entirely possible things were different here.
"Ah, so I suppose you'd like to trade jobs with me now, is that it? I'm sure there's plenty of things you've never seen or tried or even had the tiniest inkling about," the Doctor peered into the guard's face. He squinted. "'Never' for you isn't 'never' for everyone ever out there. Understand? Now, you will submit yourselves to inspection by my assistant and when I get back, I want you both to be right here, in this spot, collars buttoned."
He waved at the two guards.
"Very buttoned, very inspected! Now, if you'll excuse me -- " The Doctor almost straightened his bowtie. He instead settled for brushing some imaginary dust off his coat, turning toward Junior. "Right. Carry on

And boy was it a good thing the Doctor spoke up when he did, because that comment was about to cause Jr. to lose his shit and blow up their spot. Pet? Seriously? He sucked in a long, silent breath to calm himself in that moment, and when the Doctor turned back to him he was okay to continue.
When he stepped away, it was now up to Jr. to make sure the rest of this went smoothly. Unless of course the Doctor or Daniel ran into any problems. Jr. stared down at the psychic paper, and the first thing that came into his mind was what appeared on it. A fancy and official-looking bunch of lines having to do with clone registration numbers and other aspects of their creation and given 'jobs'. In a motion of a fake offer of trust, Jr. reached it out to them to let them look at it for themselves. He made sure to keep his voice neutral.
"Safety precaution, as I'm sure you're aware that our security's been heightened."
