I live in a city that is unusual in terms of demographics, as compared to a majority of the US. The city I live in is almost equally black and white (actually, the black population is a slightly higher than the white population). The middle school I went to was predominantly black. So, I've gone to school with and had friends from the black communities (ranging from just your everyday communities to the "ghetto" communities) pretty much my entire life

I'm from Boston (where you can go without seeing a single black person) but moved to Philadelphia for a few years (where you're the minority if you're white); that's my background so that's where i'm coming from and I've had to question my own opinions on this topic many times after that move & my cultural shock
