People are up in arms at our company regarding bonuses as well. Everyone used to get bonuses. There are multiple variations on stories floating around about what actually happened, but apparently because one of the groups didn't meet goal last year, no one got a bonus. It was an all or nothing kind of thing. I'm good with that, and have worked at other companies where everyone had to meet goal in order for bonuses to be paid out. But now they're saying that support staff won't be eligible anymore - only the Operations people (and of course execs ( ... )

Bonuses = Bullshit in my opinion. The only time I have ever received a bonus was when it was guaranteed company-wide, and the receptionist got the same percentage bonus as the highest execs. Every other time, the company has always managed to weasel out of paying them to the lowest folks on the totem pole at least.

Whenever I interview for a job that talks about their bonus program, I ignore it. Salary and solid benefits are what counts in my estimation.

You are very wise to take that approach. I just don't trust companies wrt: bonuses.

I remember when I recieved my first bonus at Photobooks. It was soooo wonderful, and a big surprise. I loved working there. The office Christmas party was and is the best I have ever attended. If I had to choose between a bonuse and a the christmas party. It would be the christmas party every time. So, the bonus was just icing on the cake!

They don't give out bonuses at hospital either, but there is double time,and holiday pay. Yeah baby! I will be looking forward to those paychecks.

That guy should be taken out back and given a slap. Who ever would allow a CEO to do that? Our company does give out bonuses to all employees (exempt, non-exempt, union hourly etc) and it's status is communicated throughout the year so people can track the % to be given out. Only exec comp isn't discussed. That was very very wrong. Good for you - he deserved to be embarrassed.
