Back at work on this rainy but warm Wednesday in Atlanta. I certainly don't miss the terrible freezing rain and continual sense of doom of New England Novembers! The occasional rainy day is a treat.
My day off did me a world of good. I'm refreshed, feeling cheerful. Just keeping sorta quiet today at work, sticking to myself. I left on a note of fomenting rebellion Monday... We had an all hands meeting wherein the CEO mentioned the good news that we'll be raising bonus potential next year! I stood up and asked if this meant we're considering extending the bonus program to include all employees. "Well... no," and then followed mumbo-jumbo. I actually followed-up with, "But those who are eligible for bonus will be getting even more money?" Damn skippy. Five random co-workers approached me throughout the afternoon and asked one of two questions. They asked either, "Who's eligible for bonuses? I didn't know we gave out bonuses," or, "Who doesn't get a bonus? You mean not everyone gets bonuses?" I felt my work was done.
Mind you, I'm not eligible for bonuses (clearly), nor do I especially think my position should be. But dammit! If it's only the upper echelons of the company that are eligible, don't advertise to me in an all hands meeting that the rich are getting richer, but you, Traceroo, still don't get anything. That's just bad form! I learned later that Directors are eligible for up to 20% of their salary in bonuses! Splitting the difference, but making it company-wide wouldn't bankrupt anyone.
Rebel without a clue, that's me! At least I got chicken.
