I don't understand public mourning for celebs/public personalities. I don't understand when people are deeply affected when someone they've never spoken to, and barely interacted with, dies. Kid 3 grades above you at your HS/college died? How does that make an impact on your life?
I kind of understand the "kid 3 grades above you" thing though, because in my high school, which was a reasonably small school pulling in students from a large area, it would affect almost everyone. Like, even if you didn't know the person, chances are one of your close friends knew them well, and it's hard to watch someone mourn without "feeling" that way yourself.

I don't understand the whole "mourning sickness" thing, though. I'm not being judgmental, and not saying it's wrong, *I* just don't understand it!
