This is easily one of my favorite paintings. I think it strikes an effective balance, both composition and color-wise. Actually, I had to re-paint it a couple of times because the colors were not working together as well as they should have, but I finally got everything to work the way I wanted.

New style of painting I really wanted to try- It's blocky layering, and even though I was aiming for even less detail (my weakness), it still came out pretty good in the end. The reference photo is one of mine, and this is a Japanese seagull :3

Ok so, workshop is over...I've ranted about it so much now that I can't be bothered going over it again, but basically I did very well with the speech and the team task, but the written task...THAT came out of left field. I have no interest in weddings, royal or otherwise, so I guess I'll be spending my Friday night catching up on some study...If I do a good job I might be able to spend a couple of hours painting before the night is up.

Ok, this is one of those few pieces that I really really like. It also took an age to do, using multiple media types on some amazing pure cotton paper <3

Done with: Water-color pencils, water paint, Chinese ink and brush, ink pens, soluble ink washes...on kickass A4 paper :3
