living in good old austin, texas, i've crossed paths with far too many cock-a-roaches for my taste. not only are they unpleasant by their own merits, but those fuckers bite, too, in case y'all didn't know ( Read more... )

yep, it's rare that they bite but they do. maybe it's because i had a lot of dried sweat on me, and was therefore salty?

Water roaches. They can get like 3" long and pudgy. They're dark with a little yellow edge on their middle section.

I'd post a pic but I AM TERRIFIED.

We get some sometimes, although I've never been bitten. I recently have discovered that they make those poison bait things for large cockroaches.

My main issue with them is that I can't catch them.

those poison bait traps seem to keep their numbers down, but don't get rid of them completely, unfortunately :C. my boyfriend has a bunch of those set up around his house, but i still see those crawly fuckers. i don't mind them too much as long as they don't freaking crawl on me! D:

I am terrified of roaches. But I just moved from Dallas, Texas to Tucson, Arizona.....and I will just say, my fear of roaches are on the back burner of creepy crawly things. Like 4 inch long beetles with huge pincers and scorpions.

First two weeks in Tucson, one of my dachshunds found and was playing cheerfully with a scorpion in my front entry. This was in the temporary apartment we stayed in for month when we moved here. Well, we found a little apartment house (free standing units, with backyards) and I just had the exterminator out here today JUST IN CASE. And I signed up for service every two months. I just got a chill thinking about all of this.
