I've been having an allergic reaction to GOD KNOWS WHAT for the past three days. I thought it might have been some pomegranate I ate on Tuesday; I haven't had pomegranate in YEARS so I thought I may have developed an allergy to it. The doctor I saw today said if it was the pomegranate, it would have been out of my system already, so the only other explanation we could come up with was that I had a reaction to the pesticides they sprayed at my work on Tuesday.
I was complaining about being super itchy on Tuesday, but I blamed it on my excema. I always get extra itchy when the weather gets cold. That changed when I got in the shower Tuesday night. I noticed some mild hives dotted all over my body. I didn't worry too much about it, popped a couple Benadryl and went to bed. I woke up Wednesday and they were worse. I continued taking the Benadryl throughout the day but they only kept getting worse. They were hot and ugly and SO itchy. I went to Walgreens that night to see what the pharmacist thought. He told be to use topical Benadryl as well as get some more oral Benadryl. He also told me if the hives didn't go away in 24 hours to see a doctor. Tried that (I was sobbing the whole fucking time I was rubbing this sticky, smelly ointment EVERYWHERE; I was SO fucking uncomfortable and my whole body looked so unattractive), and popped some more Benadryl before I went to bed.
I woke up this morning and they were even worse. So I dragged my itchy, uncomfortable ass to Quick Care. Doctor and I chatted for a while trying to figure out what it could be, then she shot me in the ass with a vial of cortisone. She gave me a Medpack (7 days of steroids that work in a tapering dose; seven pills the first day, six the second and so on), Atarax for the itching and Singular for the allergy.
So now I'm not as uncomfortable and the hives are just now starting to go away. The nurse said they should be gone for the most part tomorrow.
Keep in mind the get progressively worse. They start pretty tame but get pretty fucking nasty by the end.
Also, the pictures are coming out FUCKING ENORMOUS on my screen, so sorry about that.
Day one. This was right after I got out of the shower. First ones I noticed.
Day one: My back.
Day One: Tummy.
Day One: Other side of my neck and shoulder.
Day One: Side boob and under my arm.
Day One: Back of my right leg. It looks like a heart!
Day One: Left thigh.
Day One: Right side.
Day One: Chest.
Day One: Left leg.
Not so bad right? It gets worse.
Day Two (morning): Right arm.
Day Two (morning): Left side.
Day Two (morning): Right side.
Day Two (morning): My back.
Day Two (morning): My neck.
Day Two (night): Left side (this is where I started crying).
Day Three: Right side.
Day Three: Left side (here's where I made the decision to see a doctor).
Day Three: Left arm (I'm at the doctor's office here).
Day Three: Right arm.
Day Three: Right leg.
Day Three: Left side (after the cortisone shot).
Day Three: Left foot.
Day Three: Right foot.
Day Three: Inside of my right thigh.
Day Three: Inside of my left thigh.
And here's what they look like as of about an hour ago: Left side. They're still really ugly, but they're not raised and hot anymore so I figure they're going away.
I also had them on my hands and a few on my face, plus in some places I couldn't put up pictures up, like my boobs and ass. Hopefully this nightmare is over and when I wake up tomorrow they'll be mostly gone. :/
