Actually, I couldn't smell it at all. The other monitors were shouting to me to hold my breath and I remember it all being quite odorless. But I'm sure it was quite rancid...
My sister as a small toddler left a cup of milk in her room. Fortunately for us, it was uncapped when we found it a few weeks later (as opposed to the sippy cups we'd find under the couch - YUCK!). As the family dish-washer, I can tell you if the milk is free to rot with lots of air flow, as long as you don't disturb the contents of the cup, it doesn't really smell. If there's limited air flow, or the cup is sealed off... holy mother of god, it is the worst thing ever.
I rarely check LJ anymore (and this is really the only group I DO check on LJ anymore) but when I do it kinda sucks because I've been so into FB the past year or two that I automatically want to click "Like" on just about all of these comments. (I even have accidentally clicked "link" thinking it said "like" lol) Come on LJ, get with the program! xP
LMAO! I said this just the other day when my mom found a piece of cheesey focaccia bread under a pile of junk on the kitchen table that had been there for at about 2 weeks. It had the most AMAZING specimens of mold on top and it surprisingly didn't smell that bad, as it dried out and went stale before it started to mold (MOIST moldy bread/cake = DEATH
( ... )
Oh oh oh, I'm happy to know I'm not alone in my nerdiness when it comes to mold. You sound just as excited as I was when I took those pictures. And I laughed at your comment! :)
Now that I'm studying biochemistry, I hope to learn about those things and their chemical reactions. :D Yessss.
