A couple of weeks ago I took some leave and went driving around Shropshire with Ian, since I had a hospital appointment there and Ian was off for half term. Shropshire is probably my favourite place on earth; it's beautiful and peaceful and I feel a real connection to it since a lot of my ancestors came from there

Back in the 1980s here in the UK we had a kids' show called Jim'll Fix It, in which a dodgy old DJ called Jimmy Savile (who has since gone bonkers) "fixed it" for kids to do stuff they had always wanted to do. Most people I know wrote in at one time or another. I wanted to "shrink and go into my dollshouse", which was a bit crap

My oboe/viola teacher, Althea Ifeka, came third in the Paris International Oboe Competition :D I knew she was going to play in Paris, but she didn't tell anyone it was a competition!!
A lovely, genteel 55 year old lady on the scoliosis support group just asked us if it was a really bad word, cos used it to describe someone in front of her attorney and he wet himself laughing in shock >:D She'd picked it up from her "friends over the pond" but didn't know what it meant....
megamole has posed a very difficult question in his LJ about the identification of small orange citrus fruits, so just for him.....here are some pictures of one of the oranges from my local shop, which are the nicest fruit I have eaten in a long time. Tomorrow I shall have definitive information about the indentification of this fruit.
