the Canadian government has to fill a quota of people they need to kick out of the country every year.
WTF? That seems so....illogical. How about kick out the drug dealers, pedophiles, and other dangerous criminals, instead of an honest, hard-working person. It's so wrong that she is being kicked out. I hope everything works out. Keep us posted.
Kat's from the US (Ohio), so technically she'd be dropped off in Blaine to fend for herself.
They have the right to kick out criminals and such as well, but since they can usually afford better lawyers, the government won't bother; this is basically what the government official told Kat yesterday. He doesn't want her to leave and is willing to go to court for her and everything if need be, which is nice of him.
I've heard of this happening before - W5 had a story on this a few months back but I didn't pay attention cuz I figured it wouldn't apply to us - but alas, I guess it does.
I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio. The drug dealers and pedophiles are harder to kick out. More paperwork and fighting involved. They prefer to go for the single moms and little old ladies or so they said on the recent expose on this very problem on W-5.
Wow, that is just plain bizzare. I hope you can find a good immigration lawyer. Canada doesn't let spouses become citizens automatically if you stay married for a year? And they say we have immigration problems.
Yeah, I asked Kat about that - and it wouldn't rush me to do anything, obviously - and she says that while such a situation is the case in the US, but not in Canada.
