I would just like to say that Rec is my favorite night. So the way rec works is we all pick one or two sports type activities that we would like to offer and then the students all sign up for two separate ones. So it took until tonight for me to remember what a podunk town Decorah really is. Despite it's Super Wal-Mart (which is evil, of course) there are not a lot of retailers. The first couple days went fairly well. Yesterday we got our AS2G's set up. My students seem like they will be a good group to work with. For those of you that don't know, AS2G is our morning session. We take between 3 and 5 students and have them do reading, writing, and math. So the students started pouring in around 1:45 this afternoon. We did a lot of meetings and activities with them. No real highlights. We were able to get everyone into bed without too much trouble. I've found that my only sanity currently comes from two sources. I either go to Dave and vent back and forth for a while or I go play racquetball with my new racquetball partner. Well, the meetings today didn't go very well. I keep going from completely ready for the students to arrive to so stressed out that I can't fully function even in my simple capacity as "meeting attendee".
