I have this problem. See, I'm a grown man, and every night I curl up with a stuffed animal when I sleep. This is pretty freaky, right? Well, yeah, I admit it is, and I'm totally OK with that. While I wouldn't exactly want my co-workers to know about it, I'm just fine and dandy with the fact myself

Meeko was the first plushie that seemed just perfect to me, but later I found that basically there's a whole world of plush out there, and I found that I love some of them a lot more.
Unfortunately, a lot of the real quality plush that I love are like Meeko in that they are no longer made either. But there are a few that are still around, and some are most excellent in every way.
That's just me though, so best of luck in finding or making new bedtime plushies of your own choosing.
If you are really and truly set on Meeko, you might want to contact t_h_squirrel, because he has already gone through the process of taking apart a Meeko to get the pattern. And I understand he either has, or is close to ordering some to be custom made, but in a larger 2-to-1 scale (since he likes large plush). Regardless, you might be able to get the original pattern from him without destroying one of your own.

The downsides to making one are twofold. First, as has already been pointed out, it's not going to be that easy to find the exact kind of fur you want, and second, after stuffing it's not going to have the same feel. That's not to say it will feel bad, but it won't feel the same, as the fur texture will likely be off, and the stuffing qualities won't be exactly what you're used to.
Still, go for it. And better yet, when you find the materials, buy enough for two or three, and make the first one, then make a second and or third. You'll get better at it with practice.
