Why Agalloch is gay

I spent longer than I should have explaining what could have been said in a sentence (Agalloch is gay.) in a facebook comment and felt compelled to post it here in case any of you are die-hard Agalloch fans who think saying they're just gay is a copout. I HAVE MY REASONS ( Read more... )

I thought the closing lines especially really drove my point home as to how serious and logical of an argument it is.

I bet if I walked over to your house right now I'd find a shit covered used condom on your floor full of John Treefucker's cum.

I wasn't trying to present it as an absolute truth, just giving reasons for why I have the opinion I have. Considering the kind of crowd I have on my friend's list I hardly think anyone will find it too controversial. Unlike you, Chase, I don't present everything that comes out of my mouth as fact since I don't believe in any absolute truths.

And I'd think he'd just cover his schlong in a protective sheath of tree sap.

Also I've never actually listened to Agalloch, but this is amusing to read nonetheless.

They are utterly brilliant, I can never listen to Opeth or other such rubbish after experiencing Agalloch, their unique genius is without parallel, no other band can create such evocative soundscapes. It would be no exaggeration to say that Agalloch are one of my favourite bands. The only bigger Agalloch fan than me I know is my friend aske who is actually thanked in the Ashes Against the Grain booklet. Can't recommend them enough,

In fact I'm going to use this Agalloch icon I made myself.

I absolutely love their cover of Kneel to the Cross. Not so much a fan of the original. I downloaded a bunch of Agalloch albums and tried to get in to them but nothing managed to capture me in any way, nevermind getting close to what I feel with Kneel to the Cross. I haven't tried to interpret their music but your explanation feels pretty right to me. One of the members, Aesop, has a really cool music blog though. One of my favorites, actually. I don't always like what he posts but he unearths some interesting stuff.

At this point I don't think I could take them seriously.
