This week I discovered that I have a HUGE thing for Doctor/Nurse romances set anytime before the 1950s or so. I love nurses from then, for one, because these women fifty to hundreds of years ago were busting into a male field (yay early feminism and women's suffrage movement!), a certain field that I, today, would never ever have the courage or ( Read more... )

*is officially in love with you for posting this*

Squee! I can't wait for the second installment, I love Dr Culpin/Ethel, and I agree with you. Doctor/Nurse relationships are often too cute to be true.

I saw Casulty 1907 but I missed the first "movie" one - do you know if it's avaliable on dvd or anything? :D

Thanks for the pic spam - loved it!

AAAAH Dr. Marshland/Mary! They're another Doctor/Nurse ship XD! Of course she's not exactly a nurse, but she might as well be. <3<3

And you ship Culpin/Ethel! I'M SO GLAD I'M NOT CRAZY AND THE ONLY ONE THAT SHIPS THEM.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, none of the Casualty 1900 series is on DVD yet =(.

I totally agree, I've spent all Spring shipping them since Cranford was on! :D

Hurrah! *zips over to your Culpin/Ethel post immediately*

Damn. Let's hope they'll make a dvd soon :)

I've had a girlcrush on Sarah Smart for about six years, lol. I can't even watch anything she's in anymore but I just squee and it's embarrassing :/ Random fact for you.

I love Sarah Smart =D! Well, based on the three roles I've seen her play, anyway. My girlcrush is on Sophia Myles. =)

Awwww! They're so sweet. Though I don't ship them so, so much - I think it's because she's so unsure, and is almost saying "no" when I very much want her to say "yes!" I feel like I'm from the stone ages, but really, I don't understand wanting to work as a nurse in a hospital under those condition rather than marrying such a wonderful guy. But that's because I could never, ever be a nurse or a doctor - I hate blood and guts and trauma and stress... (Not to mention having people dying all the time.) Plus, I value family over career, so... I'd choose the guy. ;)

Oh, no, they probably don't get married? :( That's very disappointing!

Sneaking into the closet together! They are so Grey's Anatomy. SO TRUE. Lol!!! See, life back then was no different than today!

And Sarah Smart is also in Billy Goat, no? How funny that I pick up things that she's in at the same time. (Though the same could be said about Charity Wakefield, I suppose.)

Thanks for sharing, Sarah! I thoroughly enjoyed this. Adding to my "picspam" memories.

I know what you mean about wanting her to say yes, I think he loves her more than she loves him.

See, I'm a fan of the happy medium, that's why I was excited when he said that he wasn't expecting her to have to leave her work. And like I was saying before the picspam, though I could never ever work in a hospital I admire these early women in the field so much =)!

Yes she was! She was also the star of Sparkhouse =D. Did you ever watch that?

I'm so glad you've enjoyed this!

Aw, this looks really lovely! Thanks very much for the picspam, I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

And it is not fair! Why should some of the prettiest ships be DOOOOOMED? (Although I'd just like to point out that Paris might have been a much better choice for Juliet. Just sayin'.)

Victorian and the American Civil War era were always my favorite, but I've been into Edwardian a lot lately too =D. Have you seen Berkley Square? That's good too =).

Don't forget to start with the "1906" movie =)!
