taking prompts (sort of)

Jun 17, 2011 15:02

It's possible I've taken too much upon myself. Whatever. I plan on spending a good part of the weekend finishing this one charity auction fic, then starting my Big Bang. So I shouldn't even being doing this, but here is my hc_bingo card.

Under the cut, so as not to stretch anyone's layout )

Don't torture yourself! Consider how you can torture your characters! A shuttlecraft accident can induce hearing loss or having to deal with fire; a terminally ill person may attempt suicide, or request assistance with it; Jim's mouthiness could land him in a dungeon or his daring could result in his contracting pneumonia; Nyota would likely be more upset than she'd admit if a minor illness caused her hair to fall out; what would a de-aged Gaila be like?

But I could get a nice 2br outside Atlanta for not a whole lot of money! I'm just imagining my kitties scampering around all that space. I feel so bad about restricting them to one (large) room for so long.

Heh. I was thinking of using Pern for non-con, since it's part of the canon. *facepalm* Oh, Anne. But I think it would have to be an aftermath story.

I think a story about the aftermath of "Holy fucking asscrackers, my dragon had sex and I apparently have to too whether I want to or not! WTFF!" would be an excellent service to humanity and an awesome thing to read.

Not that I have any opinions on that particular bit of canon.

I keep thinking about Mirrim in "The White Dragon" and how wound up she is, presumably about Path's upcoming mating flight. I want to do something with that. I have a plot bunny.

Depends on what happens in the de-aging process, I guess. Maybe the character has memories/thoughts/desires that his or her more regressed brain has trouble processing. Maybe the character was really insecure as a child and the de-aging causes bad memories to resurface.

It can be angsty. Everything can be turned into angst. *g*

I keep thinking that I'm worse to Bones, but I made a list once, and I'm much, much worse to Jim. Although a lot of the things that befall Jim are just plain silly. :P

These days I find myself liking the role reversal - Bones being the one imperiled, Jim upset by the fact that the guy he - consciously or unconsciously - depends upon is out of commission. I do owe Jim a whumping, though.

Of the prompts... bullet wounds. Always dramatic.

Of my own suggestions... radioactive contamination. For my black humor amusement.

Star Trek. Anything that puts Jim Kirk through hell, even if he's not the "victim."

:D

Huh. You've made me realize I've be uncharacteristically kind to Jim so far this year. He's angsted a lot - mostly about Bones *g* - but I've been going pretty easy on him. Must remedy that.

But I've so been enjoying making Bones suffer! I guess I could make them suffer together. It would be a nice bonding experience for them. :)

Btw, how do you code in journal/community names on DW? When you're on LJ I mean.

It is a little complicated (see below) but the code is displayed right at the bottom of your DW profile page and I usually just copy and paste that.

That's so complicated. O_O

Thank you, though.

You're on a Mac, right? You can use something like TextExpander to create a simple text macro for it. I type 'dwuser' and I get the dummy code for that; I type 'dwcomm' and I get the dummy code for a comm. I also have a specific shortcut for

Hmm I supposed you could combine hostages, slaves, isolation, dungeons and maybe even stalkers into one fic where one of them is kidnapped and help captive. You can even get the non-con in that fic too I'd bet. And therapy and trust issues would come after that.... But...that would he one hell of a depressing fic, and I would think it would have to be extremely long to handle everything. X_X

It seems like a lot of these would fit well into the mission format most Trek fics are made up of so that's at least good. The mutation one, you could do wing!fic or even some kind of mental powers. Hmmm...this is hard.

I don't think I'm allowed to combine that many prompts.

Hahaha, I can't do wing!fic. I've spent too much time mocking it, I'm afraid. But mental powers... Like telepathy, maybe? Or a character becoming empathic? That could be interesting.

Aww damn :|

And yep! I've seen a couple of fics touch on things like telepathy or empathy and with telepathy it's interesting to me to see how someone who isn't supposed to have it copes with it (I've read one where it actually caused a lot of issues, it wasn't just 'oh this is awesome!'). I think it would be interesting for one of the boys to develop empathy (Bones comes to mind first for some reason) though, just because I'd love to see them cope with that as well. I am a psychic powers kinda girl though :D

What about Chekov? I hardly ever write about him, but in my head canon, he's very self-conscious of the fact that he's younger than everyone else, and it actually caused quite a bit of awkwardness for him at the Academy. Empathy/telepathy would probably be really hard on him.
