taking prompts (sort of)

Jun 17, 2011 15:02

It's possible I've taken too much upon myself. Whatever. I plan on spending a good part of the weekend finishing this one charity auction fic, then starting my Big Bang. So I shouldn't even being doing this, but here is my hc_bingo card.

Under the cut, so as not to stretch anyone's layout )

Of the prompts... bullet wounds. Always dramatic.

Of my own suggestions... radioactive contamination. For my black humor amusement.

Star Trek. Anything that puts Jim Kirk through hell, even if he's not the "victim."

:D

Huh. You've made me realize I've be uncharacteristically kind to Jim so far this year. He's angsted a lot - mostly about Bones *g* - but I've been going pretty easy on him. Must remedy that.

But I've so been enjoying making Bones suffer! I guess I could make them suffer together. It would be a nice bonding experience for them. :)

I'd ask you who should be more seriously injured, but I think I know which way you'd vote. ;)

This might be good for the bullet wound prompt. Who should get shot up worse, Bones or Jim? *g* The idea would be that the less badly injured one is taking care of the more badly injured one ... and then collapsing at the end. And then given a strong talking to. :)

It would be an amazing bonding experience. Oooh,,, I just had an idea. Imagine... if you hurt both of them... but ONLY show the story from the point of view of character A, who doesn't know that character B (who is taking care of character A) is injured at all... until the end. Oooooh, the angst.

Oooh. Yes, they could both be injured, and Bones is tending to Jim and hiding the fact that he's hurt too because he needs to keep Jim calm. And then, when they're finally back on the Enterprise, Bones collapses in Jim's arms. Because that never gets old. :)

That's angsty, sure... but can you picture it the other way around, too? *grins* Which would be better?

My way, duh. ;)

I don't know, McCoy would have to be pretty badly hurt not to notice something's wrong with Jim. Hmmm, but maybe he is that badly hurt. Poor guys.

Of course he'd have to be pretty badly hurt.

But you're right... the first way you mentioned would be better. Maybe. I wonder HOW it would work out the other way. But yeah, I totally see Bones collapsing in front of Jim after valiantly working to save his sorry ass. It would have to be a bullet wound that Jim couldn't see from where he's lying on his back.

I don't know. I keep thinking about it. I could work either way. Bones would probably have to be, like, delirious with pain or fever, not to realize Jim is hurt as well. Maybe he's suffering severe blood loss because of the bullet. So he feels completely guilt-stricken when he wakes up in Sickbay later and sees Jim unconscious in a bed next to him. Or something.

I'm more concerned with the denouement. Bones hating on himself because he didn't realize Jim also had a bullet in him isn't a satisfying ending.

I mean, either way I get to beat the shit out of my McCoy, so... *g*
