UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING (2012) ***

I went into Underworld: Awakening with the lowest of low expectations. I pretty much hated the first two entries in the franchise, and although I thought that Part 3 was a step in the right direction; it still wasn’t a very good movie. I never gave enough of a shit to see any of these movies in the theater, but I saw this one at the mall only ( Read more... )

I enjoyed the first two films but HATED part 3, that was one of the all-time WORST sequels(not to mention the worst prequel of all time, I would seriously rather watch Repo Chick then Rise Of The Lycans) i've ever seen, just terrible in every way, you know a film is bad when you can't even use Rhona Mitra right.

I personally loved all of the Reisdent Evil films and i'm tremendously excited about seeeing RE: Retribution(there was actually a teaser trailer for it when I saw "Awakening")

I thought this was the best Underworld film yet too many awesome moments to count, I loved when Selene escaped being crushed to death by an elevator by shooting it full of holes, or when that girl ripped that one guy's head apart and repeated the same line he said to her earlier "it hurts more when you struggle, trust me". Though I was dissapointed that the characters of "Michael" was barely in the film(though I hear that was due to Scott Speedman being unavailible) I was surprised at how quickly the film went by, the first two films did have some pacing problems, but this film was over before I knew it.

Also I didn't bother seeing this in 3-D since I didn't feel like paying a surcharge, but it didn't need 3-D anyways.

Damn, I totally dropped the ball by neglecting to mention the elevator scene. That was some Harold Lloyd type shit.

I'm a massive UNDERWORLD fan , the third was the weakest, but seeing as it was shot here (in New Zealand) and my mate Robin worked on it, I have an affection for it .. ;)

Really looking forward to Part 4, I won't bother with 3D, I HATE it, wish the stupid gimmick would fuck off and die.

I have a soft spot in my heart for 3-D because I saw Jaws 3-D in the theater at the age of 5 and it was one of those moments that defined me as a filmgoer. Some of the new crop of 3-D films make good use of the gimmick (like Piranha 3-D and My Bloody Valentine 3-D), but most of them are pitifully weak.
