I never watch commercial news. Because it is really just that. Shallow, superficial, sensationalist and offensive propaganda designed to keep the lowest-common-denominator ignorant, self-obsessed masses in their safe little bubble of materialist meaninglessness - buying, eating, wearing, and voting for what they're told to, and then perpetuating the next generation of themselves, churning away like fuel for the corporate machines controlling them.

this is a little dated but I hated the fact that we were virtually forced to watch 9/11 for 48 plus hours with very little else on and this really annoyed me as the tsunami didnt get the same kind of coverage and yet the numbers were huge - by that I am not saying that it wasnt tragic that many people lost their lives in 9/11 but the news channels didnt give us a no option 48 hour coverage of the tsunami. Granted planes being rammed into the world trade building and the Pentagon was unique but it makes me feel like certain people are more special or more newsworthy than others which does annoy me. I understand perfectly how the system works but I dont like the way they portray the world. I often dont watch the news cos its so depressing and also one-sided that its infuriating.
