Her books, pictures, and booze were safely stashed in her room, the journal with her in a pocket she'd lined with oil-cloth against a situation something like this, so that she could keep atop of the situation even while down here.

Let's see, food, booze...no wait...some gunpowder, the rest can dry out, maps Anko ran through the impromptu list she'd put together in her head of things to save--unless someone directed her otherwise.

And people of course, if she came across anyone in need of rescuing.

There would be time to worry about possibly crashing and dying later...if there was a later.

"No fucking clue," growled the pilot. "Haven't talked to him since I found what he gave me for this frickin' holiday."

Anko nodded slowly. "You're sure he's down here? You should go to the upper decks," she told him gravely. "I'll find him for you."

"Already checked up there, yo."

At that, his journal beeped. It better be him...

It was, but what he heard wasn't good.

"Motherfucking bastard...Axel?" Reno swore again. "He says he's on his way down. Fuck!"

"We should stop him," Anko said immediately. She'd get more supplies later--there was no way she was leaving him down here on his own, with the water rising as quick as it was. "So let's go find him."

When the journal beeped again, Reno nearly broke it in an effort to get it out. Recording his question, Reno snapped it shut. "Let's go."

So it was 'pick a direction until they found out where he was'? That was fine. As long as it got Reno moving instead of standing still, freaking out more. After a second's hesitation, she took his hand in hers, sloshing through the dimly-lit corridors, getting darker by the minute.

Axel finally caught up with Reno, having taken the time to set aside his tool kit to keep dry. There wasn't much he could do about the water now (at least not anything safe or reasonable), but he knew that once the crisis was downgraded to passive, his work would be great, indeed. Anything that wasn't rust-proofed in the hold was going to have to be inspected, down to the littlest nut, either to be repaired or replaced.
In the meantime, he could do grunt work, grabbing food, bandages, perishable supplies.
Catching up to Reno, he looked at his twin with a measure of concern. "You gonna be okay?"

Reno didn't even notice Anko taking his hand, but was relieved to see Axel.

"Bastard, don't fucking freak me out like that again," he muttered, a bit embarassed he was so antsy.

Anko mostly hid her grin at his behavior. He kept this up, and people might start thinking he actually cared about his brother. "You guys should grab whatever supplies you can on your way up," Anko told them, leaving out hte whole "not coming with you" bit.

Axel, generously, did not comment further upon Reno's agitation, instead nodding to Anko. "Sure thing. Anything take priority?"

Reno was really wishing he was anywhere else.

"Let's just grab shit and go already," he muttered. "The water's rising."

"Tools, gears, first aid boxes, food." Anko ticked each off on her fingers.

"I'll, uh" she paused. "I'll see you up there." She turned to go back into the dark corridor.

"Right." Axel nodded, looking back grimly and seriously. "We'll see up topside in a few, 'kay?"

"'Bout damn time...."

Reno finally noticed just how high the water was. "Oh...shit."

Anko gave Reno's shoulder a little shove. "Don't think about it, and just get moving, flyboy."

She'd not sloshed off more than three feet away from them when their journals beeped with the warning from Kambei.
