Due to the large number of military in the audience, Angel had given herself a bit of a makeover. Not anything too drastic, just enough to throw off suspicion. Her beret was off, her bangs were pinned back completely, for once, and the rest of her hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail, held in place by a pair of chopsticks and decorated with pins that happened to look like sushi rolls. She was also wearing a small pair of librarian-style glasses that she normally reserved for reading in order to obscure her distinct case of heterochromia.
"I do," she replied calmly. "My assistant will be the lovely and talented Anthy Himemiya, also from the Serenity." Angel looked over her shoulder towards her chosen assistant, to see if Anthy was going to come forward to say something into the MC's microphone. If she did, Angel would gladly step aside.

Though she had noticed Angel's change of appearance, it did not occur to her that Angel might not want to be recognized. Anthy herself did not particularly want to be recognized, but it was too strange to think both of them might have reasons. Thus Anthy's long hair was bound neatly up and covered with a cap so that the color was not noticeable, and her small red tattoo was covered with powder. She had her own glasses on for more mundane reasons, while she didn't wear them most things, she did use them for reading and sometimes cooking. She hoped to look innocuous and unnoticeable next to the pretty Angel.
Then it was back to Angel she turned, waiting for the first instructions.

With that, he hurried off to set up the remaining competitors.

He was already nervous about this contest. It was showing a part of himself that he wasn't completely comfortable with to a lot of people. But this guy with the funny ears obviously thought he couldn't do it.
(Even if the ears were kind of cute. If the guy hadn't been scowling at him, Kanji would have wanted to touch them.)
It just made Kanji more determined to win this. Besides, he had the best damn assistant in the whole contest. "His name is Souji Seta, and he's gonna help me blow all these other punks out of the water. Got it?" Sure, he was posturing, but...one, he didn't like this guy, and two, Naoto was watching. So what if he showed off a little?

A small hint of surprise crossed Leo's features. Not at this man's attitude, which was fairly predictable, but the fact that he had thought to choose his assistant in advance, since so many others had overlooked that detail. It showed an unusual amount of care and foresight.
In return, Leo would try to act hip for a moment by giving the man a thumbs-up and repeating back, "Got it!"
... okay, no more of that. Back to being the dorky MC. "Good luck to the both of you, and remember to wait for the start signal before you begin!" With that, he headed off to set up the rest of the challengers. There weren't many left, so hopefully they would be getting this contest underway very shortly.

"Each chef and their assistant will have three hours to prepare their dish. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, they will have the best kitchens and freshest ingredients found anywhere in Reial at their disposal. However, within these three hours, they must create a dish which is not only outstanding in terms of taste and presentation, but one which best captures the spirit of the Hanami Festival!"

It was a cake with three layers, each one smaller than the last and covered in a layer of marzipan. The edges were shaped into waves, blending into the spun-sugar flowers that bloomed all over each layer, interspersed with petals plucked from the sky. While the marzipan was black, the flowers were all very brightly colored.
The cake was an explosion of flowers and color...and wait a moment, were those skulls? Yes, that's exactly what they were. In between the flowers and lining the sides of the layers at intervals were sugar skulls. If you looked closely, you might spot stylized flames done in frosting around them, as well ( ... )

And then she took a bite of the cake, chewing thoughtfully. "Hmm...it's very sweet, but not as sweet as I thought!" Overall, Millie gave the cake an eight, if only because it was a little too rich.

A bite was taken and an eyebrow raised. It was sugary to say the least, but not oppressively so. "Hn. Well you certainly put a lot of effort into it!" He gave the cake a seven.
