Optimus' team was scheduled for the first, the third, and the sixth night of that week. It was certain that the thieves would strike during this time, but it was uncertain when. Optimus had spread his team out across the front and sides of the warehouse, stationing one in front of each of the three doors that led inside. He himself was parked innocuously across the road, all sensors on alert, looking for all the world like an ordinary car.

Pip liked to think that he was an ordinary man, with an ordinary life that was unfortunately not very ordinary anymore. Okay so sure, his life had taken a few turns in the course of the last few years and it culminated to him becoming the second-in-command of one of the most talked about ships in all of Reial, but he still liked to think that he was ordinary. Or as ordinary as he could be, at the very least.

But now, at this very moment in time, Pip couldn't help but think just how unordinary he was right now. Guarding jobs like this weren't new to him - he had done a lot of them back when the Wild Geese were still around - but somehow, after everything that had happened, the man couldn't help but find how strangely boring it was now to be just staying here and doing absolutely nothing.

The only weird comfort he had was the fact that he was currently sitting across the entrance at where his captain was, staying for all in the world like an inconspicuous car - which would be fine if there were actually cars in this place. Cars were a ( ... )

Hexadecimal was stationed at the other side door, investigating the alarm system. It was, she knew even without interfacing, exceedingly primitive. Her finger'nail' units plunged into the main circuit. Hex was [Puzzled.] The circuits had been broken, but whoever had been doing the breaking had left before the alarms even went off. Even limited technology such as this should have been enough to stop normal humans and even most demi-humans. The pressure pad around the entrances had been touched, but only registered one pressure, as if the thieves had entered and left in the same moment.

Hex tried a different route, and asked the machine itself. It was very confused, knowing that people had been inside, but not how. It did tell her, however, that no one had bothered trying to deactivate the system before entering. Cocky little thieves, Hex thought to herself ( ... )

Ulquiorra's group was on guard at the same time as Prime's. However, instead of guarding the doors, the four were positioned at a distance from the warehouse. Instructed to conceal themselves as best they could while still remaining in sight of the warehouse, it was the job of this team to keep their eyes open for anything unusual in the area and to raise an alarm if they spotted something. Each was equipped with a small torch powered by mana crystals.

Ulquiorra didn't mind being on watch.

He was naturally inclined to be quiet and happened to be small enough to not have trouble concealing himself, so it made the job almost effortless. Even so, he looked blankly disinterested. Well, it was his ground-state of being.

His torch was off --he didn't really need it-- and his hands were in his pockets as usual. As yet, he hadn't spotted anything out of place or unusual.

Ellis was not used to being stood around, doing nothing. Okay, so they weren't exactly doing nothing. He realised the importance of the job, but up to yet, they were looking out over a whole load of boring.

He kept his torch to hand, but as of yet he hadn't needed to use it. Sure, it was dark, but he and his friends in the badlands had often gone out for target practice in the middle of the night plenty of times. Besides, he hadn't even noticed anything out of the ordinary just yet.

The biggest problem was making sure that he wasn't easily seen. Well, he'd dressed all in dark colours. He'd even kept his mouth shut, which in itself was a big enough accomplishment.

Hiding? Hiding was second nature to a Racconan. Besides, being two feet tall and all grays and blacks made it really easy to blend in with the night, and his animal hearing and eyesight made the dark no problem. Quentyn had left his torch behind, it had been a bit tall for him anyway, and he could pull a bit of Lux if he needed any extra light, or even pull Wildcard out, since the blade glowed.

He'd settled and was watching, he guessed that's all there really was to do for now.

Guard duty was up to Nikolas Kamarov's group on the second night after their arrival. The strategists had ordered each guard to their positions, with plans to alert the others with their torches if they spotted anything suspicious. It was cloudy tonight, making visibility difficult. The occasional patch of moonlight would illuminate the scene, but aside from the single lit lantern beside the main door to the warehouse, it was dark.

Manfred von Karma had arrived early; it always did well to make sure you knew the area before starting a mission of any sort. Sometimes, it wasn't practical, but this one? Certainly. He fully expected his teammates to do the same... however, as he knew all too well, his expectations didn't always match up with what really happened.

He tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for the others to arrive, not bothering to check and see if anyone had made it before him. If they had, his opinion of them would probably increase slightly... but only slightly.

The first thing Nikolas had done upon reaching the warehouse was run a quick perimeter check. He could be given all the intel in the world, but he still wasn't comfortable with a situation unless he had assessed it with his own two eyes.

He arrived back at the meeting point to see von Karma waiting. He knew who the man was--by reputation, at least--and he suspected that working with him was going to lead to headaches, but for now, he was going to stick to being the professional he was. "The others should be here shortly," he said by way of a greeting. "So far, everything seems to be clear."

He would have preferred to have a better idea of what they might be dealing with, but he also knew that it might not really help them in the end, either. All he could do was hope that for once, something he was involved in went right. It was enough to make a man start wondering if he was cursed.

And no sooner had Nikolas said 'shortly', there was Jean. Rather than wear her normal eye-catching-but-impractical dancer dress, she had changed into something far more suited for martial combat, her tightly-tied battle wrap. She had also already donned her best weapon, a bladed punching gauntlet; after all, if Prime's description had been any indication, everyone had to be prepared for the worst on this mission.

(That was also the reason why there was a winged cat clinging to her back, doing its best to stay unnoticed. Just in case of an emergency, of course.)

As she approached the site, she could see that there was already two men with slicked-back silver hair waiting there, one older and one... much, much older. Those two had to be her teammates ( ... )

Backup to Kamarov would be provided by Armstrong's group, assigned to guard the warehouse at the same time. Olivier had free rein to place those under her command where she wished. The night was dark and cloudy, a cool wind breaking through the summer heat. The ground was still damp, the unpaved road covered in the day's footprints.

Nena was walking towards her own station when she spotted Gintoki. His hair made it easy, what with the way the moonlight lit it up. Shouldn't he have thought to cover it or something? It was one of the reasons why she'd gone for an outfit that consisted almost entirely of black. That, and any bloodstains it received would show up less easily.

"...you've got to be kidding me." Nena might not have done any guard work before, but it was pretty obvious that you were supposed to keep your eyes open. Moving closer to the man, she waited until she was only a couple of feet away before she whispering "Wake up!" in a tone that gave away how annoyed the girl was. They were here to do a job and do it well, not this... laziness. If he didn't move... would that mean he'd actually fallen asleep? If that were the case, then she'd simply be doing her job by getting even closer and attempting to flick his ear.

Surrounded by idiots was the first thought that came to Olivier's mind. The second thought was why the hell are you off station????

She approached the pair with rage-knit eyebrows. "What do you think you're doing?" she hissed, crossing her arms. She'd decided to take up a standard patrol, sticking to shadows in a logical path from sentry to sentry.

Well. If anyone would get to their post, anyway. Ridiculous.

The largest group was assigned to guard on the fourth night. As boatswain and strategist respectively, Kirijo and Hijikata were in command and responsible for stationing their teams. The night was uncharacteristically cool, thanks to the strong wind that sent the clouds moving fast over the sky. Any moonlight that managed to break through the cloud cover would not last for long.

Sam was holding a now empty tube of toothpaste in one hand and his sword on the other. Earlier without the others noticing, he had placed blobs of toothpaste infused with magic at random intervals at some distance around the building. Anyone who stepped on it would instantly alert Sam. Hopefully the thieves didn't fly, actually stepped on the blobs, not notice the tiny amount of magic in them and think them to be bird crap or something.

He stowed the empty tube into his pocket and checked the sheath for the dagger hidden on his arm. Unless it was an emergency, Sam had no intention of revealing his magic.

Milky Rose (and yes, it was Milky Rose -- she'd insisted upon wearing the ridiculous outfit, even though this was supposed to be a stealth operation) was crouched down on the roof of the warehouse, wondering why there wasn't any half-decent cover to hide behind. Well, at least she'd be able to see the thief, granted he, she or it showed up.

But, ugh, this wind. Rose was currently holding onto the end of her long wig with one hand and holding the top onto her head with the other.

Mitsuru had picked a vantage point where she could see at least part of the entrance, and most of the rest of her team. Standing in the cool, dark night reminded her in some ways of her trips into Tartarus - though there, they had been the invaders. To stand guard, waiting, felt a little strange. Her rapier was loose in it's sheathe, ready for a quick draw, and she had the holster with her Evoker strapped to her belt, just in case. With any luck, summoning Artemisia would not be necessary, but knowing she had that as back-up helped.
