Kurt Wagner was one of the first people to come up on deck. He was a bit shy about the whole idea of just all coming together for a meet and greet. But, as he made his way up to the deck, he thought about it as like his days back in the circus. Everyone had to work together, especially in a theatrical sense. This would be no different from the circus at all ( ... )

"Yup, it really is no da!" A little girl popped up behind him and ran out in front, followed by a tiny brown monkey. "Bu-ling can't even do that yet. It probably makes tons of money nano da!"

Arriving a bit more slowly than the very excited girl, Sophie grinned happily at the scene. It was nice to be on a ship again, with good people (she hoped...). Perhaps they would let her costume again, and refrain from trying to rope her herself into performances.

Knowing Zeetha, that would be a far off hope. "Takes a lot of hard work and practice," Sophie added to the conversation.

"Indeed," Zeetha said, in answer to Sophie, stopping the blades so she could pay attention to the two new strangers, who both looked young. The girl's 'no da!' told Zeetha she must be Bu-ling. She didn't quite understand that, but she decided not to comment. Show people could be pretty eccentric after all.

"So let's see, I think I've figured out who you are through the network. I'm sure you've guessed I'm Zeetha. This is Sophie Hatter, costumer extrordinaire, and you must be Bu-ling and Kurt Wagner?" She nodded to each of them in turn.

Ukitake had come out on deck a little early - it was nice to be able to enjoy the view, the slight breeze and the warm sunlight. The last six months had been rough, but springtime and a new assignment both promised that things would go up from here. His uniform jacket had been left in his quarters - he was off-duty, for the moment - though Sougyo no Kotowari still hung at his belt, the warm, friendly comfort of the sword spirits a constant hum in the back of his mind.

After a few minutes, he realized he wasn't alone on the deck. A green-haired woman with swords - Zeetha, his mind supplied - was practicing intently, flipping the swords and catching them again. He watched silently for a few minutes, and then finally, spoke up with a grin. "Nice trick, there." And that was really what it was - a trick. Showy, but not a fighter's move. Still, her skill and poise spoke of a certain amount of actual talent.

"You think so?" Zeetha asked amiably. She turned to face the speaker, keeping her blades in motion. She wasn't showing off so much as continuing to practice. Depending on the act it was good to be able to interact with the crowd, joke and chat with them as she selected her mostly planted assistants and so forth. Being able to divide your attention was a useful skill ( ... )

"Melior, originally," Ukitake replied cheerfully. "Though when I'm not on active duty, Bellcius has been my home for the last decade or so." It was a little strange to realize it had been that long, but they had been a good ten years. He leaned up against the deck rail a little, relaxing, but still watching Zeetha. "As to you question - I'd have to say Badlanders. We Ivonians may be a little more selective in our tastes - and I know I'm one to take blade-work seriously, myself - but we're a lot less likely to start a fight if we don't like the act."

"I see," Zeetha replied, keeping the blades moving through the air. "I think I'd have to agree with you."

Generally, city folk had plenty of other things to keep themselves occupied and entertained. On the other hand, little nowhere places who's only other regular entertainment was telling stories after the latest monster attack really suffered from an entertainment lack. Couple that with an inclination towards personal violence and a lack of social order, and the results weren't surprising.

She glanced to his swords. She knew she was supposed to be playing friendly, but she couldn't help think about a friendly match. There hadn't been many bladed fighters aboard the Winding Way, after all.

"That sword of yours," she started. "Just what can you do with it?"
